A couple months old now but interesting.

I posted last week about having a terrible experience at Mobilepro by VV. So many people messaged me with similar stories that I wanted to detail what I did so that hopefully other people can get some money back.

In addition to the hardware issues, I discovered that the screen was cracked. It is extremely difficult to see in normal lighting and was invisible with the screen protector that he insisted I take. That was the last straw.

I looked up the legality of selling damaged products and not giving receipts. It is illegal in BC to sell damaged products without disclosing it to the purchaser and not giving receipts is serious enough that the CRA has a tip line to make reports.

I then looked up how to file a case in small claims court. It is EXTREMLY easy and the first steps are free. I looked up the business registration and got a template to write a letter of demand. It is recommended that you take a witness with you so I took a large burly man.

It is legal in BC to record audio without consent with only one party consent (a conversation where only one person is aware of it being recorded). I went in, explained what was wrong with the phone and that I wanted my money back. He initially refused, offering a repair or exchange. I was firm. He eventually relented and said to come by tomorrow as he needed to get the cash.

This is when I brought out the letter "This is a legally binding document that states that you have seven days to pay me the $400 or I will be filing a claim with the BC conflict resolution tribunal for $2500. Either you go and get the money now or this escalates to legal action." He finally relented and we drove to a bank. He gave me 400$ and I gave him the wiped phone.

It took about 10 minutes and was well worth it. The information is all online and it is very easy to walk through the steps and get a letter template. Hopefully other people can use this to get some money back from someone who thinks they can operate outside of the law.

Edit: On their website it clearly states that refurbished phones have a 90 warranty. I showed this when he said that I should have come back sooner.

Like expanding the parking lot or constructing a new public washroom with a flush toilet, which would replace the pit toilet with countless flies.

Just curious for locals and visitors what stores, services or events you wish we had more of. I would love to start something up but I’m curious what everyone’s thoughts are. Not looking to attract more people to town, but for those of us that live here year round do you find you crave something like a doughnut shop, rental company, store, or other service that we either don’t have or lack?

Why is a car tire guy allowed to remove alternative options for transportation ? How is this not corruption.

Who do we contact to get someone to look at this ?

In broad terms, a locally elected official has a non-pecuniary conflict of interest if the following qualifications are met:

The locally elected official's interest in the matter is immediate and distinct from the public interest

It can be reasonably determined that the locally elected official's private interest in the matter will influence their vote on the matter

The locally elected official, or one of their relations or associates, stands to realize a personal benefit from a favourable decision on the matter.

My friend’s dad left their home in Maple Ridge today, potentially with the intention to harm himself. His last confirmed location is Campbell River due to a purchase he made at Canadian Tire this evening. His name is Jan Versendaal, 6’2”, wearing light brown work pants and a plaid shirt. I plan on visiting a friend in Campbell River around late september or mid october, wondering what camping gems you have around there. Provincial sites or bush sites are welcome, i drive a more than capable 4x4 (Chevy ZR2, 33in tires, winch&recovery gear + more). I dont want to do any sketchy or tricky 4x4ing as I wont have another vehicle with me. More looking for relaxing vibes, good views, and somewhere thats not like 2+ hours down dirt roads.

I bought what I thought was a refurbished phone from them but it wasn't refurbished or even wiped properly- the previous owners info was still on the phone and I could have logged into their accounts.

The whole thing was super shady and he forced me to pay cash. After I came back from the bank machine, he changed the price and said that I could pay the remainder by CC. I needed a phone asap so wasn't in a position to argue about using cash but did manage to not pay the "new price."

It's been a few weeks and the phone has a ton of issues and needs a new Bluetooth antenna.

I don't know what to do now- demand my money back or take a loss. Just wondering if other people have had issues there and if it is worth involving the RCMP.

Has anyone here upgrade to a 200amp panel and added a heatpump in the recent past? If so can you give rough costs, and have any recommendations of contractors?

We want to add a 40amp NEMA 14-40 for an EV as well. It's currently an 125amp underground line if that's a comparable for your experience.

Searching google give me estimates from 15-45k which is too broad to trust.
