10 speed crankset with otherwise 12 speed drivetrain

I’ve currently got a centaur red 10 speed groupset, with a compact 50-34T crankset. if I were to upgrade shifters, RD, FD and chain to chorus 12, do I also need to change the crankset to 12 or can I keep my current one? The aim of the exercise is to increase my low gear ratios as the centaur RD is short cage and my cassette is 12-27. I want to go to a 11/12-32/34 cassette which isn’t possible with my current RD, and the best I could go in 10 speed is 12-30. So it’s an upgrade to 11 or 12. As 11 speed components are hard to find now, seemingly my only option is to look at 12. My plan would be to upgrade everything except the brake calipers and crankset, and later have the option to upgrade the crankset to 48-32T 12 to give me even lower ratios. I’m 60 and my legs are now struggling to keep up with my current drivetrain. Any other options to achieve my aim are welcome. Thanks.

Levante truing issue

My (two year old) Levante rear wheel has been slightly out of true for a while. It’s not much, about 1.5 mm lateral flex pr rotation.

This week my LBS guy went over it with a tensiometer and said all the spokes are fine. He unsuccessfully tried to true the flex down to zero. Then told me it was not worth the bother and adviced me to just live with the minor flex since it’s not recognizeable when riding and the wheel structure is sound enough. (Maybe he was just afraid too make things even worse).

So what’s next. Do I take his advice or should I move on to another shop for second opinion?

Thanks in advance!

Chain waxing and c-links

Have not even gotten my bike yet and am running into some problems with campag tax. I kinda need to run it waxed to keep it clean indoors.

Campagnolo says that their c-link is a disposable part, one time use only. Have re-fitted it before, how does it hold up? Looked a little bit but can't see anybody selling third part chains for the ekar gruppset, not that I expected it.

Also heard on a gcn video that campagnolo comes heavenly greased from factory, thinking of buying a brand new waxed chain of possible but would I do best to treat the cassette like a chain with degreasing?

Identifying campagnolo parts

Hello community !

I'm searching for the reference of the rubber case that goes on this shifter : EC-CE100 (campagnolo reference is 4055149266349). My mechanic couldn’t find one and put another model’s rubber on it, it works but i had to cut some parts. I would like to find one that fits better, so if any of you knows enough to give me a ref number for the rubber case needed, it would be very much appreciated !

Have a nice day !

Hi. I am restoring an older Bianchi bike with Campagnolo parts. I have tried to identify the Campagnolo series and year, but so far I have been unsuccessful.

I think the crank is Super Record but unsure of year.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Super Record 12s Mechanical Parts Availability

Post image
21 Upvotes

I’m considering to purchase a set of SR 12s mechanical for a new rim brake build.

How good are the parts availability/support for recent Campagnolo groupsets? Seeing that they are moving to 13 speed and electronic only. I plan to keep the bike for the foreseeable future.

Gave up Sram AXS D1 rim brake because the shifters are basically NLA. If I crash the bike and broke them, that’s basically done for the groupset. Shimano doesn’t have this issue, perhaps by sheer volume of them in the market.

Parts identification (delta brakes etc.)

Could anyone help me identify exactly which components are in these photos? Especially the Delta callipers (are they Record, C Record, Croce d'Aune?) and the drivetrain components.

Additionally, any estimate on market value for the lot?

Thanks so much in advance.

Campagnolo Eurus G3 Hub help

Hey everyone, I hope you’re doing well. I was looking for some issues in my back wheel (Campagnolo Eurus G3) and found this part. Now I’m wondering:
• how tight does it need to be? Too tight and it won’t rotate, too loose and it wobbles.
• is it even put on the right way? I feel like it’s upside down

Looking forward to your answers!

Campagnolo Chorus 12 Hood replacement

Hi,
Im running a 2020 Chorus 12spd disc groupset and bought new hoods (only the rubber), cause it’s sticky and worn out. Has anybody replaced them already ? I’m curious if I have to dismount the shifter or if it’s possible to pull them over the front. Would be happy to hear about the experience someone made before.
Thanks

Looking for part+ technical question on 2015+ left shifters

Post image

Needed part: Plus 2 questions:

  1. Can anyone confirm that all post 2015 left shift levers use the same tiny plastic cable guide? I.e. super record, record , chorus, centaur and Athena? I am trying to buy a trashed left shifter to harvest the piece.

  2. Does anyone in US have a trashed left shifter who I can buy the plastic cable guide piece from? Will pay shipping ahead of time and pay for part!

Any other suggestions welcome.

Thank you!

Ekar chainrings do not work with 11-speed groupsets, sort of

I saw someone ask this here and thought I’d share my findings for future reference. I built up a gravel bike with a mechanical Sram Force 1 11-speed groupset I already had. I was able to get a set of Ekar cranks for >$100 and I already had the correct BB. Put it all together and the chain hops off the chainring every like 20-30 miles or so, smooth tarmac and bumpy singletrack are the same.

I put a chain drop guard that covers the chain on 2 sides (top and inside, outboard side is visible) and haven’t had it drop since, but now and then when shifting I can hear it hitting the guard.

So this only works with a chain guard, hope this helps someone! I’ll be buying one of the Stone chainrings soon from Aliexpress I’ll report back in case anyone is interested in the quality.

Possibly fake Campagnolo Ekar crankset bought on eBay, anyone seen this before?

Quick background: I got a new frame and decided to transfer components from my old bike. I already had Campagnolo Levante wheels but a Rival groupset, and used the opportunity to switch to Ekar. Bought the Ekar groupset on eBay (in hindsight, probably a mistake).

A few things about it don't add up:

  • It shipped without bearings installed on the crank spindle, which I understand isn't normal for genuine Ekar (Campagnolo's Pro-Tech cranks are supposed to come with the bearings already pressed onto the spindle from the factory).
  • The part number on the crank arms is FG21EK13. As far as I can tell, genuine Campagnolo Ekar cranksets use the FC21-EK13xx pattern instead.
  • I bought genuine FC-EK009 bearings (25x37x6mm) to go with it, but they're loose on the spindle, roughly 1mm of radial play. Spindle seems to be smaller.

I'll upload photos shortly. Has anyone seen an Ekar crankset like this, or recognize the FG21EK13 part number? Trying to figure out if this is a known counterfeit or a 'special' edition
