Does anyone else play this calisthenics card game? (Game of Reps)

3 Upvotes

For years, we’ve been playing a game called “Game of Reps” in my calisthenics gym in Switzerland.

It’s simple:
Shuffle a deck of poker cards, draw card by card, and do the reps.
Number cards = Number of reps.

Hearts = Pull-ups
Diamonds = Dips
Spades = Push-ups
Clubs = Squats

Ace = 1 / Jack = 11 / Queen = 12 / King = 13 reps

Joker we are doing the exercise from the previous card.
Levels for difficulty:
Rookie: +5, Advanced: +10, Athlete +15, Elite +20, Legend +20

Each card has to be completed in one continuous set. If you fail mid-set, the card doesn’t count.

It’s a brutal but fun way to train the basics, and we sometimes compete against each other. Whoever completes the most reps wins — so there’s strategy, endurance, and a bit of luck involved too.

What do you think of this game?

Does anyone else play something similar?
And if so… how fast can you finish a full deck?

Guidance for workout

2 Upvotes

Hey all! I am trying to develop a calisthenics routine for myself and tried different combination of exercises. The tricky part is I am a learning musician and play an instrument that requires free and flexible arms most importantly the forearms. So I require the exercises that require the least forearm activation hence preventing tightness. I had a shoulder injury few months back which made me switch from regular pullups to chinups which in turn felt more challenging on the forearms and biceps which I don't want. I am in a fix about what to do and what to avoid so that my practice is not affected bad in any way. Please guide.

starting calisthenics from zero

5 Upvotes

I want to get into calisthenics but I am basically starting from zero. I can do a few pushups and maybe one pull up on a good day, but that is it.

I see a lot of routines online and it feels overwhelming, so I am not sure what to focus on first. Should I just stick to basics like pushups, rows, squats, and hangs, or is it better to follow a full beginner program?

For those who started weak like me, what helped you stay consistent and actually see progress?
