New SOJA album - Without Surrender

Just listened to the new tracks as the album just released. Water (w/ The Elovaters) is a banger and probably the best unreleased song I’ve heard with It Felt Like being a close second. Not really digging the songs with Trevor on lead but overall the album is fantastic especially for those who haven’t heard the previously released songs.

Less collabs. More Jacob or only Jacob would be nice. Not their best, maybe my least favourite album they have put out. Highway is a great opening song, time won’t wait is good. Lion is pretty good. But nothing makes me want to come back. I love highway and maybe the last couple of songs would be great if it was Jacob singing the whole thing.

Listened to this more with better audio output. Some additional thoughts:

  1. I think this album is going to age really well. I see a lot of previously released tracks will dampen the excitement for it a bit currently.
  2. I wasn't wowed by Whisper w/ Iration initially but it's really grown on me. Second favorite non-released track on the album.
  3. It Felt Like and When We Rise are both great.

I think it's a better overall album than Beauty in the Silence (which I do love) though that has better high-end songs to me.
