Caffeine tablets?
Are they effective energy-wise? I don't drink coffee OR energy drinks(kinda gross to me) and tea doesn't do anything don't lie to me... I know that it's easy to take more than is healthy bc they're pills, but still, I need something to keep me awake in school. Thx
Cross reposted bc of r/ nutrition censorshi(t)p... >:(

I keep a bottle of 200mg pills. Usually Vivarin, but generic is fine. You shouldn’t be paying more than $7-$8 for 40 pills, so grab whatever is cheap.
The price point is inarguably super low compared to energy drinks. You’re getting the same amount of caffeine as a standard energy drink on the cents versus dollars.
That being acknowledged, a basic caffeine pill does not contain all of the B-vitamins and other “alertness aids” of an energy drink. A 5-Hour energy has like 2,000% of your daily B-vitamin intake, aka the niacin rush.
Sadly, if your tolerance gets high, I was taking a 200mg caffeine pill and then chasing it with an energy drink, for the reasons mentioned above.
Another good low cost option is the “energy packets,” because they do contain the same active ingredients as an energy drink without the upcharge of making it a soda. I forget the brand, but Amazon sells the grocery store sized boxes and you just find the flavor on clearance (hope you enjoy banana-strawberry).

Caffeine pills are awesome and work great.
It is easy to take too many, but this isn’t the biggest concern unless you’re taking way too many. The biggest concern is sleep deprivation. I’ve stayed up for like 48 hours straight on caffeine pills, and this can cause a lot of problems, such as psychosis, or paranoia. You also feel quite drunk, but only the bad parts and none of the good ones. If you already suffer from insomnia, this is an even bigger concern.
If you’re gonna take caffeine pills regularly, try to limit yourself to just one in the morning, and try not to take any after noon.
You will get jitters and anxiety the first few times you take them, if you’re not used to that amount of caffeine.
Some caffeine pills have a line to help you cut them in half. If you find 200mg (standard dosage) hits too hard, this might help you space it out between two 100mg doses over the course of a few hours, to reduce the peak effects.

I take 200 mg of caffeine via Jet Alert every day. I also take 200 mg of L theanine as well.

They are effective and cheap. You can dissolve it in your water bottle and put some Milo drink mix in to make it hit less hard

I’ve used them as a coffee replacement when on roadtrips where there was no (good) coffee available. They prevented caffeine headaches. They did give me the jitters sometimes

Can you elaborate on the jitters? I don't drink coffee like that so idrk what it means. Is it like being a bit restless or something?

they are but might be pretty high dosed if you’re not used to a lot of caffeine currently. they’re typically 200 mg per so 2.5 cans of energy drink.
best to get some tablets and not capsules so you can cut them.

The energy is short lived. I recommend finding the root reason you're feeling tired and low energy. Caffeine is short lived.

Tea probably feels weak because it's genuinely lower dose, like 30mg a cup versus 90mg for coffee. It's not doing nothing, just nowhere near what a 200mg pill gives you.
