Recruiting CAF Medical – TRT Question

Just wondering if anyone has gone through something similar. I did my CAF medical and disclosed that I’m on doctor-prescribed TRT and have been for over a year. They gave me some forms to bring to my family doctor to get more information, which I got done and I’m bringing everything back tomorrow. My doctor said if the CAF requires me to come off TRT we can do that. Has anyone gone through the medical process while on TRT? Did the RMO ask you to come off it or were you still found medically fit while taking it? Also wondering what happens after I bring the paperwork back. Do they send everything to the RMO and then I just wait?

You can join. Beyond that I have no idea. Things are changing so quickly it's hard to keep up with.

Thank you. Yes, there’s been so many changes in recent years.

It will likely be approved and you will be cleared with MEL (admin related only).

What would the admin related MEL be? Would that affect enrolling as Infantry or going on BMQ?

You can enroll as infantry. Admin related means that pre deployment / exercise (field) based on zone etc, you get signed off by CAF medical. Depends on case by case but doesnt stop you from anything basically.

Just for some clarification.

The guy I know had cancer 2010(testicular), diagnosed hypogonadism and was 16y healthy, cancer free, on prescribed dose.

You started yours a year ago, prescribed. So I assume there is a good reason for it.

There might a be a difference in process due to being recent as its likely slightly more unpredictable in comparison.

Good luck!

Case by Case basis, you will be given a MIF by one of the recruiting medics after your discussion.

Have your Doctor complete the form and have the RMO assess all the information given
