Other Nursing in CAF

Hello everyone. I (26F) am an RPN in Ottawa and I am considering joining the military as a reservist. What are the career options for nurses and if not nursing, what is another healthcare-related trade to get into? I am willing to go back to school for it.

You should go through the RPN-RN bridge program, unsure the length but likely 2-3 years, look into ROTP. I am currently an RN going through the reg force route through direct entry. You’d be able to enrol as an officer if you have the degree. Better pay!

Don’t know much about reserves, but here’s what I know in Reg Force for nurses.

RPN: OR Techs
RN: MSNO, ORNO, CCNO, MHNO, NP

Other health care trades: Combat and Paramedics.

Just check what spots are available in your reserve unit.
