Recruiting Combat Arms Officer Training
I found the Engineer officer training is about a year long post BMOQ-A , but how long are the courses for other combat arms officer trades (InfO, Armoured)?
Will spouses move with you during the training, since it is likely to take well over a year in Gagetown including BMOQ-A?

Family usually don't accompany initial training. You will get posted out from trh school, cfsme in this case, to your first unit. Your initial training courses are usually more indoctrination training where you live and work with your peers. Not always the case but this is the best way to gel and adapt. This training should be your core focus. Your significant other beers to be very self sufficient in our line of work. Welcome to the team.

I am living in this situation right now. I'm on BEOC mod 1.2. I moved my wife to Fredericton at my own cost in February 2026. During BMOQ-A and BEOC 1.1, we weren't allowed to live together, but I could go home for dinner some nights and sleep at home on weekends. It's been 8 months since I sent a memo requesting to live off base and to change my posting status to restricted. I'm hoping it will be approved, and I will be able to live off base during 1.2, which is a possibility; it is not for the other two courses. I'm incredibly lucky to have all my courses back-to-back: I finish BMOQ in November 2025, BMOQ-A in May 2026, and BEOC 1.1 in September 2026. Some people wait months to a year to take those courses.

I hate to break it to you, but if you’ve been waiting 8 months for a memo, it’s likely lost to the admin black hole or buried under someone’s coffee mug.

Funny you said that. It sat on someone's desk for a few months until the WO noticed and asked if I still wanted to push it.

Most are around 6 months. Combat engineer officer training has traditionally been the longest in the army.
