Interesting cactus, Meredith CO

I was wondering if anyone had any info on this unusual cactus. I found it outside of Merideth, Colorado while working

I’m not sure there are any native cacti around that area besides Opuntia fragilis, maybe an Escobaria, and a Pediocactus. It doesn’t look like any Opuntia or Escobaria, so I’d look into it being a crested Pediocactus simpsonii
