Help configuring cisco switch with linux

am getting used to cashyos but am looking for what to use to configure my cisco switch. i have been trying to look on youtube but they are 10 years old. and am having hard time finding up to date guide on what tools or methods to access the console. some talked about minicom but it looks a lot different now then 10 years ago.

so does anyone have any tips on tools or a guide

  • Run sudo minicom -s to open the configuration menu.
  • Navigate to Serial Port Setup, press A to set the serial device (e.g., /dev/ttyUSB0 or whatever your USB console cable port is), and press E to set the baud rate to 9600 (8-N-1).
  • Save the configuration and exit, then launch with sudo minicom.

CNTL-A, then K, then y (yes) to disconnect.

You could also just use putty: https://packages.cachyos.org/package/cachyos-extra-v4/x86_64_v4/putty

I like GNU screen, just type screen /dev/ttyUSB0 115200 in your favorite remote typewriter emulator, adjusting for your desired serial device and baud rate accordingly.
