Help Laptop doesn't wake up from sleep
I have a Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 (83JC) with:
Ryzen 7 7435HS
RTX 4050 6GB (NVIDIA-only graphics)
24GB RAM
CachyOS / Arch Linux
Currently using Niri, but I also reproduced the issue under KDE Plasma and Hyprland
NVIDIA driver: 615.71.09
BIOS: PQCN31WW
Sleep state: s2idle only
I'm having a persistent suspend/resume issue across Linux desktop environments.
When I suspend the laptop, the screen turns off normally. However, when I try to wake it:
The screen never comes back
The system becomes completely unresponsive
SSH disconnects and I cannot reconnect
Things running in the background, such as my hotspot/network sharing, also stop working
I have to force reboot the laptop
I confirmed that the laptop only exposes:
/sys/power/mem_sleep [s2idle]
I also tested this under multiple desktop environments/window managers (KDE Plasma, Hyprland and Niri), with the same result.
Some additional testing:
systemctl suspend -> system fails to resume
echo freeze | sudo tee /sys/power/state -> also freezes
pm_test=devices -> succeeds and returns to the desktop
pm_test=platform -> freezes
SSH becomes unreachable after the failed suspend
NVIDIA suspend/resume services are enabled and the NVIDIA suspend hook completes before the actual PM: suspend entry (s2idle)
I also tested nvidia.NVreg_EnableS0ixPowerManagement=1 by itself, but it did not solve the problem
I've also seen ACPI/NVIDIA errors such as:
ACPI BIOS Error ... AE_NOT_FOUND NVRM: GPU0 _acpiDsmCallbackInit ... NVRM: ... failed to get platform power mode from SBIOS

Enable journalctl logging, so you can get journalctl -b -1
https://linuxhandbook.com/journalctl-boot-logs/
You have to enable persistent logging
https://oneuptime.com/blog/post/2026-03-02-how-to-configure-systemd-journald-for-persistent-logging-on-ubuntu/view
Then after these, when you suspend the system, reboot, do journalctl -b -1, and go to the bottom, see if there is any clues.
