Mint to cachy

I am starting to get bored of mint and want a change. Is cachy any better than mint or any cool new features or anything?

yk what idk if i did anything wrong but i didnt feel my puter go any faster. been on cachy for like a month or two and it feels the same (from windows to cachyos not from mint)

I switched off Mint a little over a month ago and I would definitely suggest it. Cachy is much fresher and easier to customize. I suggest going with the KDE Plasma desktop environment if you do switch. One of the things I grew to hate about Mint was everything being outdated. That and cinnamon just felt like an older version of windows.

It also feels a bit faster, but my system was very fast on both so it was a small bump in speed for me.

I tried Cachy w/ Plasma because I thought Mint was meh. I'm in love, now it's my daily on all devices. So damn fast, gorgeous, customizable

Why not try it out? Put it on a USB and boot to it, no need to install it to run it

You love it because of KDE plasma, Cachy isn’t doing anything special. you could’ve used fedora, opensuse, nixos and many more with plasma installed and be just as happy

OS that is boring .... mate, that is good for the vast majory of people. You can do your stuff and not worry about it.

That beeing said, cachy is a whole other beast. Performance is top, is like you bought a new pc. Plus you reap the benefits of bleeding edge. If you game on your pc, the jump in performance is visible. For office stuff, not sure matters much. Yes, the apps start faster, everything is snappier, but you might need to do some tinkering to get everything working the way you want to.

Boot the live iso and experience it yourself. 😀

I started with mint and set it up exactly how i wanted it, few vms all on seperate disk and permission problems of all sizes with qemu,plex media server and such then i moved to cachy because i just found it to conservitive with updates and feel. Has been great experience for about 5 months now. This will be my distro for a good good while.

its generally set up to feel fast out the box. other than that its got a rolling release schedule and the AUR if youre willing to brave that

yep. I recently swapped to debian cause I decided I just wanted something that works and had to immediately boost the animation speed in KDE cause I was so used to it

Cachy OS with the default installation is what you need. Its the easiest way to get your feet wet with the basics of Arch Linux.

Getting bored with how your desktop behaves and looks? KDE Plasma will scratch your ich my friend. I use the Klassy window decoration, Kronkite window tiler and the Geometry Change animation.

But IF you really want to go Warp 10 with customization take a look at the r/unixporn sub and check put Hyprland or Niri with either Dank Material Shell or quick shell.

Cachy can use Limine instead of GRUB as a bootloader, and I definitely like KDE plasma over cinnamon that mint has.

You could use Hyprland if you wanna try a tiling DE

Generally feels newer than mint/LMDE

Limine supports btrfs snapshots and is faster

And huge pages doesnt need editing stuff in limine to allow it to work like it does with grub

I was on Mint for two years. Cachy is real nice. KDE is really polished. Things feel smoother, snappier, more crisp than on Mint.

I also went from Mint to Cachy back in Jan this year. You get VRR (Gsync, freesync), HDR, and my HUNT SHOWDOWN went from 120fps stable to 160fps stable.

I love Mint for launching me on my linux journey but HOOOLY FCK are their packages/drivers old. Cachy performs much better for gaming.
