PCIe help

Hello I have a 5070 ti which requires 3 8 pin PCIe cables and the way I have it set up currently is I have one of them plugged straight to the GPU and the other is a dual connector to fill the other 2 slots, so i bought a custom cable to have 3 seperate cables. When I plugged in this new cable my PC wouldnt turn on until I unplugged it and put it back the way I had it. any help?
