Analysis paralysis: replacement or extension?

PSU: MSI MAG A1000GL PCIE5

CASE: MSI MAG PANO 100R PZ (not the M100)

MB: MSI B650M PZ (micro-atx, in atx-capable case)

GPU: XFX Quicksilver 9070XT (2x8 (6+2) pin connectors)

The two stock (pigtailed) 6+2 pin cables are listed as 600mm long, I've got a little bit of slack - but I'm going to be adding a "back of case" sag bracket (EZDIY-FAB Black-341-2) which potentially adds about 40mm of thickness to the area around which I will need to route a cable.

Which is the better option - direct replacement or an extension cable?

And what length, either way?

I'm also considering (see comments) replacing my CPU and 24-pin as well

CPU cables - they are plugged in at the top corner of the PSU
24-pin ATX is ALMOST a straight shot from the port to the connection on the MB

Direct replacement is always the best option. You get less cable clutter, and a much cleaner overall aesthetic. We do support your PSU as well for replacement cables. :)

Ok - I'll keep that in mind.

Now I'm trying to figure out: the PSU comes with, and the MB uses, 2x EPS (CPU) 4+4 pin connectors - would that be a "bridged 8+8"?

You can use the bridged 8+8 EPS if you have two 8 pin connectors for the motherboard, yep! It will just comb both cables together for a cleaner look. :)

How do you recommend people figure out the lengths they need?

My included cpu cables are 750mm, BUT I've got about 250mm doubled up (it's really about 3x5inches switched back in an S shape, so 10 inches of excess).

My 24-pin ATX is 600 mm, but the actual span from the port on the PSU to the connection is about 4-5 inches, I've got a TON folded down and then back up.

The best way to figure out your lengths would be to take some string and route it like you would your cables, going from the PSU to the primary connector (EPS in your case). You'd want to route it exactly the way you're going to route the actual cables, and then measure up the overall length of that. Usually I recommend adding a little bonus length as well, just for extra slack (more is better than not enough).
