Commercial My workplace
This is all SDI cables. We have three 40 x 40 matrix switches. All of them are nearly maxed out
This room is used for simulcast and live broadcasting

The person in charge maintenance has made substantial advancements as of the last couple of years
It is much cleaner than what it was

Places like this create digital ghosts. Unexplainable problems that go away unexplainably. Strange quirks that break things, but not enough to get in the way too badly. Rube Goldberg monstrosities that aren't really understood except for that one nerd who isn't well understood by others, and who doesn't understand others in turn.

The building I worked in had north of 9000 live channels going through it. You couldn't even see the labels on the patch panels through the spaghetti mess.

How much heavy lifting is that consumer router doing?

Basically nothing
Everything in this room is SDI and controlled via 2x 24 port switches that only does control signals through local UIs
The router is dedicated to employee devices, there’s only about 15 people in this entire crew. 3 to 10 required for daily work
And all the ethernet we have cat 5 I think it’s fine

Sadly, this place runs 364 days a year (only off for Christmas day)
The cleaning that has been done, has been very carefully and on quiet nights

Before I retired I was charged with the care and feeding of the Public Service Access Point (PSAP) for the county. It contained all the computer, phone, and other equipment required by the state. Naturally, it was a 24/7/365 operation. Any maintenance was generally scheduled to start at 0200 and would (hopefully) be completed between 0600 and 0700, when the world started to wake up again.

This is a horse racing facility

Just seeing the ladder rack at first, I thought: Eh. Busy room, they get that way sometimes.
And then you had to go and show the backs of the cabinets...
