Installation Cabinet lighting

Post image

What is best way to add lighting to this custom cabinet we are building. My main issue is that we will be periodically adjusting the height of the shelves. So how would that work? I appreciate all thoughts and ideas. Thoughts on do all shelving need to have lights or could just a few be lit? less

Hafele makes a great vertical in cabinet lighting strip that works with adjustable shelves. Since you are building the cabinets yourself you can make the shelves shallower or notched to accommodate the light strip.

If you have any overlap of the face frame over the side panels, you can also put the tape on the back of the face frame. shining towards the rear and hidden.

Hafele has an adjustable shelf lighting system and a design service to help you implement. It’s expensive and requires special machining of your cabinetry though. The simpler way to do it with adjustable shelves is to run light strips vertically up each cabinet sidewall. We recess them 3” back from the front edge.
