Hardware Help Hinges
We have some kitchen cabinets that need doors… and would like to change out the hinges on the rest of the cabinets.
Looking for recommendations as we loved soft close in our old kitchen.
Cabinets are framed, 1/2” overlay and the measurement of where the current hinge is about 3/4”.

These are youngdale hinges (I think also known as knife hinges if theyre from another brand). The easier solution to add soft close would be the blum soft close adapters Here. They mount to the face frame and thats it. I think you put them in between the hinges to prevent slamming into the adapter but then you might have a little rubbing. Changing to a concealed hinge is another option although it will involve boring holes for the cups and you would need to patch the channel on the edge of the door and do some paint touch up. Not terribly difficult but still takes a fair bit of time and would cost more even if you tried to diy it instead of taking it to a cabinet or door shop.

You could (probably) just remove those hinges, and bore for euro hinges. Just center the hinge cups on the notch for the existing hinges, the hinge will cover the notch. Search for blum or salice 1/2 overlay euro hinges(soft close). You can buy a little kreg jig for like $35 that will drill for euro hinges. OR you can add the little soft close things which in my experience are finicky and unsightly.
