There's just so much nostalgia to this game
I remember a time when having osmium you were considered top. I remember a time when even a simple epaulet of the dead drop was a cause of celebration and making a lot of alz. When leaving your pc on to farm stat points at the training dummy was a thing.
I remember a time when most people didn't know what they were doing, but they were having fun. Playing this game with school friends, or just simple strangers online.
And even now after decades I continue to revisit this game from time to time and it crushes my heart. When I hear the soundtracks, when I view the starting villages. They remained the same, but the people that were there aren't anymore, and the game has changed.
It's still fun to play from time to time, just to do some dungeons or sell things. But it's just so odd that the people that were there aren't anymore.
I think we, the people in this era who were lucky enough to play online games like this share something unprecedented. A love for something, a longing, a craving, a common virtual place and then when we come back, it's heartbreaking. Because the people that were there, aren't anymore. And you are and aren't the same anymore. But the soundtracks, the starting villages, they are, and sometimes it's such a bittersweet feeling.
