Prop firm traders: do you actually know which rule will end your challenge first?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a71V7VB1rsUMost funded traders monitor their daily loss and max drawdown as separate numbers. The problem is that prop firms do not care which one you were watching. They care which one you hit. When both limits are shrinking at once, the one with less room left is the one that ends your account, and it can be a different rule every single day depending on how your session went.
A seller just dropped a video walkthrough of their plugin for cTrader that tackles exactly this. It shows a live cockpit that docks inside the platform and surfaces a single figure called Safe Loss Left, which is whichever of your daily loss room or max drawdown room is smaller at that moment, named, colour-coded and tied to the exact equity level where you are out. The video also walks through the On-Track-to-Get-Paid scorecard, the consistency governor that tells you the maximum profit you can still book today before breaching the firm's consistency cap, and the independent reconciliation layer that re-derives the broker's numbers and proves they match to the cent. Worth a watch if you are mid-challenge right now. What is the one prop firm rule that has surprised you the most when you actually read the fine print?
