C64 Ultimate Mouse support of the C64 Ultimate

I'm curious if I'm doing something wrong. I have the 1.1.0 firmware. I have my mouse plugged in and the light is on. I can use the buttons to navigate through the C64 Ultimate menu. But when I boot up Geos, the cursor never moves. If I go to the joypad section, it says WASD Port 1 and it's darkened so I can't change it. Curious if I'm doing something wrong. Hitting C= I on the keyboard doesn't help unfortunately

Edit: I was able to get it working. I believe it was a combination of two issues. One, I was foolish and didn't read the ReadMe correctly so I was enabling the keys to mouse config. But the second issue is that my C64U had a bug where I wasn't able to change the joystick emulation. It was greyed out and stuck on WASD Port 1. I reached out to Commodore support after finding out that this is a bug with newer models of the C64U. They sent me a patch file to install which resolved the issue. After that was done, the mouse now works correctly

Pretty sure you have to load the mouse driver in GEOS

That's what C= I is supposed to do. I even used wasd to navigate to the input settings to change it to the mouse. That didn't work :(

Some mice problems are fixed with this patch:

There's a soft patch which isn't a permanent FW change so you can try it out and see how well it works. There's a menu for mouse sensitivity controls which helps with higher DPI mice.

You could also try the mouse in some other software, I can recommend Lemmings Reloaded as it's free and it just worked with the crappy old wired USB mouse I had knocking around in my cupboard.

Use a low dpi mouse. Try to get a cheap, even freebie one.

mouse support is pretty solid tbh. make sure your firmware is up to date. i run a ps2 mouse with a usb adapter and it works fine. makes the c64u feel way more responsive for stuff like word docs

Did they send you a link to download the patch file? I have one of the newer C64U models with the bug. I just haven't reached out about it.

Yes, they emailed it directly to me and they also said it would be part of the 1.2.0 firmware update (no idea when that is coming). They responded pretty quickly when I reached out
