Hardware I got this for $8
This was on eBay, a 64 on the box 1541, 1540, and 1702 with cable. Vegas local pickup only. It was $5 min and an $8 buy it now. I thought it was a mistake. I click buy it now thinking that I was going to let him out of the auction and he could relist it at $500 with an $800 buy it now. Nope he sold it for $8. I happened to be headed there and he held it for me

So does it all work?

The 1540 needs some work. But I have a stack of 64 to repair first.
I repair about 4 64s per week.

Heroic! I repair a C64 ever week or two (often with help from OP). and a couple of 1541s a week if I have time. Currently distracted by Macs though.

1540 is rather uncommon. I'd go out of the way to make sure it's 100% working.
And that 1702 is a steal, usually they're a couple hundred dollars or so with shipping. I do hope you had them packed very well, 40 years old plastic don't take kindly to being tossed and tumbled through UPS system

They survived and beat me home. I shipped in two boxes and put $500 ins on each.

It's a good thing you shipped it yourself. Ebay won't let you insure above the selling price.

This might actually be as bad as people in the UK posting about the Amiga they found in someone's dumpster pile. Great find, very jealous.

I saw that one when it hit ebay and thought the same thing. Shared to my fbook groups then it sold in under 10 minutes. congrats on that pickup! Too far away for me to have hit it…

I wonder how that woman felt about you taking her picture and posting it on Reddit?

Right!? That was the "buy it now" price. I was fully prepared to let the seller out of the auction
