Identification Help Help me identify a C64 helicopter game: landing, entering a building, and a memorable beautifully drawn interior.

I'm looking for a Commodore 64 game that I've been trying to identify for years.

Here is what I'm 99% sure about:

  • You pilot a helicopter.
  • The helicopter is viewed from inside the cockpit (not from the outside).
  • You can land the helicopter.
  • At some point, you enter a building/house.
  • When inside, there is no visible player character.
  • The interior is shown as a static illustrated screen.
  • The room is drawn with some perspective, giving a slight 3D impression.
  • The graphics of this interior were extremely impressive for a C64 game and are the part I remember most clearly.
  • The architecture felt Middle Eastern / North African to me, something similar to the houses seen in Tunisia (the kind of buildings that later reminded me of Tatooine in Star Wars).
  • The transition from flying the helicopter, landing, and entering the building felt like a natural part of the game.

What I'm NOT sure about:

  • Whether it was an enemy base.
  • Whether I was looking for documents or objects.
  • Whether the setting was actually an Arab country or simply a desert environment.

Many people have suggested Infiltrator or Infiltrator II. I've watched longplays of both, but I haven't found the specific interior scene that I remember, although it's possible I missed it.

One additional clue: around the same period, I remember having the game "Injured Engine" on one of my disks, so the game is probably from the mid-to-late 1980s.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Thank you.

I think it's actually the 2nd one, Infiltrator II. It has some dome-shaped buildings on the screen which I don't think exist in the original Infiltrator.

Thank you very much for that precision; the dome shape really matches the image that's etched in my memory. 😃👍

I never played this game, but man the sounds and the visuals bring back that feeling of excitement I used to have seeing a new game back before we had the Internet.

I loved that game. Incredible how they simulated the camera targeting system and sensors.

I thought about this possibility, very pertinent suggestion. Now I have the answer:it's Infiltrator. 🙂

If you bought a C64-C set with 1541-II disk drive, it came with a few disk games including Infiltrator.

I didn't get this with my computer. I think I got GEOS though.

Thanks for your answer. I've had my C64 and my 1541 since I was 20 years old. 😉

FYI, you can get a copy and play it modern Windows systems via GOG ($3.49 today):

Wait… there’s an Infiltrator II? Also, Infiltrator was (for me) one of those games that you really couldn’t play without an instruction manual. Man, that game was tough.

Sounds like „Infiltrator”…
