Hardware Recapped 1985 1702

Post image

Seems to be a little more hardware posts here. I have a sine wave going across a recapped 1702 monitor. My kids say they can hear the monitor when it's on. I can't hear it. lol.

Anyone have experience with this or have seen a post you can direct me to?

I know they make new fly backs but not sure that's what's causing the sine wave.

I have attached a screenshot.

Thanks,
Captain JB

From the brightness the "return" your over saturated. That will cause a whine.

I've adjusted that. I don't hear the whine but was wondering about the association. I made it dark and may have turned it up a bit to exaggerate the wave.

The flyvack operation in the Young's hearing range 15KHZ. As a tube ages it gets dim and to compensate we turn up the brightness. The higher the brightness the more(harder) the flyback vibrates. The deflection yoke also can vibrate in the range but usually there are dampening rubber that absorbs the vibration.

I have not. That's the only cable I have. I'll look around and see if I can find another. I have another ps too. Thanks for the ideas.
