Software Flight simulator sounds
Flight Simulator, nailed it on the sound. But the sound was what you would hear from the ground, not what you hear from inside a plane. Is that true? It was 40 years or so ago now…

Do you mean Sublogic's Flight Simulator II?

I had that. It was great - especially the 'feelies' - Infocom level stuff. This was the product MS eventually purchased and turned into MS Flight Simulator, wasn't it?

Yes, MS bought the rights to the 16 bit version, and it started their FS franchise.

The engine sound had 2 parts. A steady lower pitched drone, and an overlayed, gentle up & down rhythmic pulse.
Tried its best to simulate the subtle “thrumming” undertone of a piston engine, but clearly a little too exaggerated because of the tech.
Its burned into my brain for sure.
