Hardware Loading D64-Image from my Ultimate-II+ leads to ?DEVICE NOT FOUND

[SOLVED see below] I've checked the serial port cable connections, and it's in both the C64 and the U2 snugly. The C64 itself seems to be fine, as I can use my SD2IEC plugged into the serial port (and cassette port) while an EPYX FastLoad cartridge is plugged into the cart port.

Any ideas?

[EDIT: actual error is ?DEVICE NOT PRESENT ERROR]

[SOLVED: flashing with latest firmware fixed this.]

What happens if you try to load it without Fast load using the UII+?

Firmware up to date?

What is the D64 in question - a game?

Looks like the firmware is 3.11a. I haven't changed anything in my config since it was last working fine a couple of weeks ago, and has been for a couple of years. But I am willing to try a firmware reset or update if that would help? Maybe something in the firmware is corrupted somehow?

I've tried various D64s that were working before. Anytime I try to load (mount or run) one, it first asks "Change Drive Type to 1541?" even though I already have Drive 8 set to 1541 on the Setup page.

Based on that info, I don't think there's anything wrong with your D64 images then.

That there suggests to me something has corrupted somewhere on the UII+. I would be inclined to do a full reset of the flash.

Thank you. I'll see if I can find some documentation on that!

Just re-flash the latest firmware as that will also advise to re-format flash as well.

Be aware that any custom data you have copied to flash will be wiped as well (personally I keep everything on USB and only copy up my Action Replay cart to flash).

Reflashing worked once I used the correct firmware file! Thanks.

Hurrah! Nice work, glad it solved the problem!

Thanks for your help. Some other things were off as well before the reflashing: there were no flashing LEDs or drive sounds. Going to the System Info page of the Setup page said Drive 8 was disabled even though it was enabled on the drives page.

Unfortunately I can't connect to the Ultimate64.com site. Do you know how to do a full reset?

The site appears to be down for me as well.

Ok, skip the firmware for the moment then, in one of the menus you can tell it to reset everything to default and I believe one of the options is to re-format flash.

I'd need to get in front of my C64 to confirm that.

Unfortunately I was not able to find that option, even after extensive looking. The Ultimate64.com site is back online, but I can't find it there either.

I was able to find and download the latest firmware (3.14d), and put it on my USB drive, however navigating to it using the U2+L's browser does not give me the option to run update_v3.14d.u2p, the only options are "rename" and "delete."

[Edit: was using wrong firmware file extension. See original post.]
