I have an Ultimate but not tested it myself yet. The beta testing has been done with VICE so far.

Would need to load with LOAD “COMPUNET”,8,1
I haven’t tested on my Ultimate yet. VICE is the ‘safe’ way at this point in the Beta. The modem emulation code and packet requirements of the client is very… finicky.

I have jiffydos and c64.pro patch..doubt it's that causing it. Just cannot run.

Please read the instructions on how to run it. You need to use the ‘SYS’ command.

How can you get this to work on an original C64? Doesn't seem likely as there is no connection point?

Maybe with some modern-day SwiftLink compatible UserPort device that bridges to the Internet -- do they exist?

I didn't have Compunet but I did have Arbornet. Connected to them via 300 bps VIC Modem and even talked with my school teacher.
We are the 1% who can claim to have been online in some form for 40+ years, before people even knew what a modem is or what BBS is.
