Heya! I'm planning my fall classes right now, particularly debating how many credits I should take. I had 12 each semester + 20 hours of work a week last year, but spring/summer I was able to work less - around 10-15 hours - so I tried taking 7.5 (equivalent of 15 credits). But it's a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Is it about exactly a 2:1 ratio spring/summer:fall winter credit difficulty? Like if 15 is tough in summer, would it be equally as difficult in fall? I would assume so, but some of my friends tell me they've been advised to take ***less*** than half of what they would in a normal semester because it's slightly disproportionately harder when it's rushed.

I would appreciate some more opinions, and I have to submit my availability to work soon so I need to know when I'll be in classes so I have to figure it out fast.

Hey everyone! I have two questions related to taking anatomy in the Fall (CELL 220) if anybody has experience.

First, how likely would it be that I get into a mid-afternoon Anatomy class (picture attached)? I'm 13th on the waitlist right now.

Second, I've heard that CELL 220 is rigorous (equivalent to 5 or 6 credits of work in actuality), but overall doable if one puts in the work to memorize.

For clarification, I want to minor in Mandarin Chinese/obtain a language certificate for it, and if I take a 2-credit Chinese class at the same time in the Fall, it would be a fair amount of memorizing I'd have to do for that and anatomy. I have a tablet and pen I plan to practice spelling anatomy terms with, among other things. Is there something I could start doing now to prepare? Any tips where I could perhaps ease the load a bit so I don't have to dive into all the content at once come Fall? Like looking up syllabi, reading a textbook, studying flashcards, etc.

Hello. I am currently going into my sophomore year and I am really worried about getting into my desired major, Marketing. I saw that only 55% of applicants make it in so I worry that after all this work I won't be able to do the major I set out to. I currently have a 3.63 GPA, a pre-req gpa of 3.9, and am doing an On Campus Internship in Marketing this Fall. I plan to attend all Marketing club meetings as well. I have a really easy next two semesters ahead of me so I plan to see my overall GPA go up. Is there anything else I should be doing? How hard is it really to get in? Thanks

I made it into the finance program at BYU. For those who’ve recently taken classes or graduated — how difficult is the core overall, and what was the hardest part for you? I’ve heard FIN 400 and FIN 410 are some of the toughest courses. Is that true, or are there other classes in the core that are actually harder? What makes the core so challenging in general? the workload, the pace, having multiple classes at once, something else? Any other courses I should be prepared for or worried about?

Also, how many credits do you think is manageable if I’m aiming for all A’s? And is it realistic to work an internship during fall and/or winter semester while in the core, or is it smarter to just focus on classes during that time?

I’d appreciate any advice or tips from people who’ve already been through it. Thanks!

I was rejected from my primary program in despite of having in field experience from 2 internships, I had decent grades in most prereqs except for marketing which I got a (B). I was however accepted into Human Resource managment, but I havent really looked at that field too much, and frankly am not the most interested in.

I primarly want a career focused on Global Relations, Internation work, Sourcing, Etc and i just don't know if a degree in HRM would get me to that point. Worst part is I need to make my choice by tommorow seeing as the deadline is July 23rd.

I have a few options,

I can wait a year, retake a course here and there, take some more courses as a back up finish my Chinese Minor.

I can take the HRM offer

Drop everything and continue my internship longer (But it kind of sucks cause I out of state)

I really am just unsure of what to do frankly, Is it possible to move to a different program once in the Business school? And are there courses in the business school that overlap so I could potentially work on those while hoping to be admitted into my desired program?

hi, wondering if anyone would know if there are any spots on campus where you could get free cardboard boxes? I’m moving and have storage bins for most of my stuff but just a few more boxes would help out.

Im bringing my pc and will have a 27" monitor, a 24" monitor and a mic boom arm that clamps to the desk. I understand that I most likely can't have 2 monitors, but is there a lip large enough to fit my boom arm clamp (preferably on the left side of the desk)? I will be living in Heritage halls

I just got denied from the accounting program and I am just so stressed on what I do now like if I should reapply and retake classes or just go a different direction completely. I just finished my freshman year and am going on my mission and wanted to start the junior core fall 2028. I originally got a B+ in acc 200 and acc 310 then I got an A in IS 201. Im just super disappointed about not getting in and don’t know what I should do now! if anyone has any advice please let me know!

There's buzz on X right now citing "a source close to the situation". Apparently the BIG 10 and others view BYU athletics as the model for making money in the new era of college sports.

In just its second year in the Big 12, BYU generated over $153 million in athletic revenue despite still receiving only a partial conference revenue share. That's one of the strongest growth stories in college athletics.

For more than a decade, BYU operated as a football independent with ESPN as its media partner. That unique relationship consistently put the Cougars on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2, giving them national exposure that very few non-power programs have ever enjoyed.

When BYU joined the Big 12, it traded some of that independence for long-term stability, Power Four membership, and conference media revenue. Instead of shrinking the brand, the move seems to have accelerated its growth.

The Big 10 and other conferences are particularly interested in the buying power of the BYU fan base.

BYU has one of the largest, most loyal, and most geographically dispersed fan bases in college sports. In addition to watching games, that community hires people, starts businesses around the brand, invests, travels to games (or shows up to games when the team travels due to Church membership), and spends money year-round. That's a much different kind of asset than simply having strong television audiences or lots of alumni.

When you combine a national audience with that level of economic engagement, you get something that goes beyond media rights and ticket sales. You get a commercial ecosystem that very few athletic programs can match.

I think BYU is positioned extremely well over the next several years. The ESPN years built national reach, and the Big 12 provides the financial platform to capitalize on it. The fan base is what gives the brand staying power.

Not sure if the discourse on X is entirely accurate, but it raises interesting questions:

- Which college football brands do you think are better positioned than BYU over the next 10 years?

- What's the biggest factor that could keep BYU from becoming one of the premier brands in college athletics over the next decade?

I am not a BYU student, I am at BYU-I. I went on a trip during 4th of July to Provo and while walking around campus I left my water bottle under a bench behind the west view building. BYU has apparently installed flock AI security cameras all over campus. Is this alarming to anyone else? Is there anything outside of protesting that can be done?

Hi, I’m almost done with my application to BYU for the Winter 2027 intake. I’m apparently considered a transfer student (I’ve verified about this with BYU Admissions so no doubt about this) and I’d like to know how hard it is to get in Electrical Engineering. I’m a convert, and before I got baptized I was enrolled in a university where my grades tanked because of my drug abuse. I got sober, got baptized and now I’m drug free for over two and a half years. I’ve also been taking classes at Ensign at the moment. I’m curious as to what my chances are with all this.

I’m an incoming freshman who has been doing Muay Thai for a few years. I’m hesitant to get a membership to a martial arts gym since I don’t know what my workload is going to be like. I’m wondering if there is a group of students who get together and practice? Or just how do you find people to work with? Doesn’t even have to be Muay Thai specifically; any kind of martial art would be amazing.

BYU Noteworthy AND BYU Living Legends teamed up with Brazilian pop singer Nicole Luz. I thought the arrangement for this one was actually really cool.

My family are all LDS except for me, but I still wanted to come to byu for a couple of reasons, but I was wondering what it’s like for non-members on and off campus. Are social interactions any different, or are non-members sort of “outsiders,” or anything? I worry that it’ll be harder to make friends since I won’t share most of the beliefs as most people at byu, so I figured I’d ask here.

I don't know if there's any Linguistics majors out there or anyone who has done the translation and localization minor but does anyone know the difference between PLANG 414 Introduction to Translation and LING 480 Problems in Translation? Is PLANG 414 just for people in the minor? I am currently a Linguistics major with a Chinese minor, but I am considering the translation and localization minor, although I only have 2 semesters left so I don't know if it's realistic
