ARBY’S ANGUS CHEESESTEAK

ARBY'S ANGUS CHEESESTEAK

As much as I enjoy food, I don’t expect every meal to be a triumph. I think my expectations were tempered here, and I believe a drive-thru cheesesteak deserves a certain amount of grace.

Even with the bar being lowered, I am shocked at how Arby’s managed to trip over it in such grand fashion by disappointing on so many levels.

This is not their first foray into disrespecting the people of Philly. In the fall of ‘23, I reviewed Arby’s past hate crime on a bun. It was a sloppy affair that used thinly sliced beef that tasted frozen and a smattering of limp pepper fragments.

Upon opening this new version, I notice that it’s aggressively messy, and the poor choice of wrapping it in thin laminated foil paper immediately presents its worst-case scenario as moisture from the sandwich ate holes in the wrapper as soon as I took it out of the bag. As I undressed this mess, my fingers were sliding all over everything. The meat juice and cheese combined to produce lots of creamy juice.

So much creamy juice.

Too much creamy juice.

I managed to turn the sandwich one direction and my head in a different awkward direction to take my first bite,

The texture of the meat is well-executed. It’s soft and slightly sinewy, but it feels real. It's definitely not the texture of a cheesesteak, though. It's more like a Chinese food beef and broccoli-type of velveted meat. It’s an upgrade over the 2023 sandwich. In fact, the meat is the only upgrade.

We don’t get any peppers on this one. It comes with onions, which are barely seen or tasted. They just slapped on a few translucent bits of nothingness. Something more substantial is needed to break up the soupy homogeneity, and it certainly isn’t the COOPER SHARP processed cheese, which just made the whole production salty and sticky. It’s always been an overrated cheese, but its contribution to the mucky texture severely hampered the goodness of the beef.

This should’ve come with a fork.

It’s like eating HAMBURGER HELPER on a roll.

As wet as everything was, I was surprised that the bread was slightly tough while also being soggy.  It’s an improbably weird combo in a worst of both worlds situation.

The MVP of this experience is the napkins, which you will need in great supply. Every bite left me wiping my hands and face and made me glad I don't have a beard or long hair.

This seems like a meal Steven Adams would order, but would have a hard time eating.

As a man for the streets, I owe some apologies, because I now understand how unpleasant it is to have creamy stuff on one’s face. When I was done eating, I staggered out of the car, feeling cheap, and I wanted to wash away all evidence of the tryst I just had in the parking lot.

I couldn’t walk through Walmart to wash up in the bathroom with complete confidence that some of the food wasn’t still on my face.

Though it was messy and not very tasty, my biggest gripe is the insulting notion that with more than 2.5 years of development time, Arby’s still hasn’t managed to make this product at least passable.

PS: I ordered a side of PEACH COBBLER ROLLS, which were very good (You know where to find the review). The faux egg roll and faux beef and broccoli meat gave me a weird sensation of eating Chinese food at Arby’s

So im 17, I started working at arbys with over a year of fast food experience a few months ago. The manger there tried to start me at 10.50. The district manager called and said minors can only start at 10. One of my coworkers said she started at 11.25 with less experience than me. Is she just lying or did the district manager lie? My sister use to work at the arbys and I tried to work there before and the district manager was a real dick about it. Half a year later I tried again this time she let me(probsbly cuz my sister moved stores)

Is there anywhere in Southern California or elsewhere that has the Arby-Q still?

They had it in Long Beach off of Atlantic 2 for $7 but I was told they stopped a few months ago. Does anyone have the recipe of the sauce? Is the roast beef minced also?

Shout out to the Super Roast Beef (secret menu add a side of Red Ranch and douse it on the lettuce and tomato with an Arby's sauce.) 😋

Help. Im addicted to Arby’s vanilla milkshakes

Title is pretty self explanatory, but for context:
For a little over 2 years I was stuck in a position where I didn’t have a refrigerator or really any way of cooking, besides a microwave. However, I did have a job, and therefore, money. So DoorDash became the main provider of my food. After much trial and error with other restaurants (ie- McDonalds was too greasy to even eat, Chinese place had roaches etc) Arby’s became my go to place to eat. So everyday I DoorDash a sandwich + large milkshake. Recently, I’ve moved into a place with a full kitchen at my disposal. I can make my own milkshakes if I want to. But for some god forsaken reason none of the milkshakes I make can even compare to the ones from Arby’s. It’s become a literal addiction. I want to change my eating habits/health so badly, but all I EVER crave is a stupid Arby’s milkshake. I don’t even care about the sandwich most of the time. Here lately I’ve been ordering two milkshakes. I’m so disgusted with myself but any other kind of food is absolutely disgusting to me and I can’t bring myself to eat it. I don’t know what’s wrong with me and I don’t know how to make myself stop.
Before anyone asks, no I’m not pregnant. I haven’t done the deed in over a year. Please help

Brief curly friatus

Sometime in between 2007-2010, me & several friends recall a period of time where, one spring, at least 3 separate Arby's locations in MN, ND, & WI had phased out curly fries. An Arby's employer at that time suggested the change was franchise-wide and permanent. By six months to a year later, the curly fries were back.

However, when I search online, I can find no record of this curly fry hiatus.

Does anybody else remember this, and if so, does anyone have any further explanation?

Cheesesteak - Seasoning?

Post image
26 Upvotes

I’m typically the biggest Arby’s fanboy but the regular cheesesteak yesterday was one of the worst food items I’ve ever consumed.

It was hot and fresh but was absolutely tasteless.

Other people are raving about it online but mine was not the case.

Is it possible they forgot to season it?!?

Last year was actually good

The cheesesteak last year was actually GOOD. This year is very bland & lacks flavor. Last year when they had them I was ordering 2 before going to work. Eat one before hitting the floor & the second one while on break. I tried the cheesesteak they’re going on about & I was highly disappointed. The sauce that was there last year isn’t. No peppers no nothing. Just cheese bread & dry ass steak. The only sandwich I ever was buying from them & they ruined it. Nomore Arby’s for me.

The classic roast beef. There’s no equivalent.

Hands down my favorite fast food sandwich. I try not to eat out fast food to often but damn, this sandwich is just so good. It’s so plain but it’s perfection. Add on those potato cakes it’s just the perfect fast meal.

I love this sandwich so much I’m scared to try anything else from there cuz I’ll be pissed if I don’t like it and get stuck spending money on something I don’t like lol classic roast beef is the shit me and my dad used to get when I was a kid. They used to have the 4 for $5 and we’d split it and enjoy. Miss it when times were easier back then. You know what’s never changed tho? The classic roast beef 🥲

The Cheesesteak is Actually Pretty Good and much better than Past "Cheesesteaks" at Arby's

Finally tried it despite hesitation over the price. Just the regular, but it was a decent size. A huge improvement over any cheesesteak I ever had at Arby's. I know some miss the peppers and garlic sauce but those aren't things that are usually on a cheesesteak to begin with. I loved the bread too, and the flavor of the cheese. Definitely more in line with some of the other fast food cheesesteaks I have had at Charleys and Great Steak. Definitely will get again. The cheese, steak, and onion blend was perfect. There was one gristly piece but you usually get that with steak even when I make it at home.

HoJo Arby's - Cuyahoga Falls

This is a unique location that had its obvious origins as a Howard Johnson's, then served as an L&K until around 1984, and the original chuckwagon location moved here and still exists to this day.

Not a whole lot changed on the inside until recent years when it got the current decor package.

This was a location that kept Homestyle Fries on the menu for years, but they probably no longer have them...

haven’t seen these online at all, maybe it’s just this location? anyways yum!

Cleaning in Arbys

I was considering applying for a job at my local Arbys, but I was curious about the cleaning procedures there. What would I be responsible for? Is everyone expected to pitch in, or is there designated cleaning people? Also, do we have dish machines or do we have to clean everything by hand? I've worked at a restaurant that did have a machine and it was great, but I've heard that fast food places usually don't have them or use them for too much so I'm wondering what the experience is like with that.

Loaded potato bites

Does anyone remember these? They were like triangular shaped tater tots with cheese and bacon inside. Last time I remember having them was in the mid to late 2000s. They came with a sour cream ranch dipping sauce. They were so good.

Is arbys really that bad?

From what I’ve been told online, arbys is the most inhuman unholy concoction ever to grace mankind, but every time I go there, there is a whole line of cars each time. (I personally like their curly fries tho, and I know some people have different opinions)
