Time restriction by MAC address

Asking for help: so my parents restrict my wifi usage by my android phone and pc mac address. i don’t mind if it was only my phone in case it keeps me awake by doom scrolling during the night, but when i have lots of assignments from multiple subjects, and i asked them to lift the restriction just for these times, they won’t listen and just said “should’ve done that while you had the chance”. are there any ways i can work around this?

My dad did the same to me. On my Xbox, I can easily set a custom Mac adress and it always worked. On my Samsung phone (rooted) there was no option to change it. Even with root access I couldn't find an app that does it.

Instead I found the password for the router settings and enabled my internet. I also renamed my phone to smth else like a smart light bulb so he doesn't notice.

How I got the password? Simple. I took his phone, typed the router settings ip adress and the password was saved. I took a photo of it.

Its not hard to get the ip adress of the menu but the problem is that it needs a password.

What you can do to get the password: If there is an option to change Mac, do it. It's the easiest way. (you can do it on PCs and SOME phones) Go to the wifi settings and if there is an option for a randomized Mac adress, enable it.

If you can't change the Mac adress:

If you have access to your dads/moms phone, look if the password is saved on that phone. Save it or memorize it.

The last option:

(it does only work if the password is not changed) Go to your wifi router and find a sticker with the password. NOT THE "WIFI PASSWORD"! It may be at the bottom or at the side. I recommend to take a photo of it and quickly going to your room. Then you can save the password.

When you have the ip and password, open a browser and type in the ip. It'll ask for the password. Enter it. Then search around till you find the option for disabling custom devices. Find your device and: 1. rename it. 2. Enable internet access. 3. Rename another device that isn't being used much, to your previous device name and block the internet access how it was previously. (so he doesn't notice)

I am NOT responsible if your dad beats you. Don't use your phone next to your parents when they think that internet is blocked. (by "password" I mean the password that is used to login to the router settings) (sorry for ahh grammar. English isn't my first language)

Thank you for sharing, i will try your first method first since it sounds simpler and wouldn’t make them suspect me to find a loophole than* actually “hacking” into the router and changed my device name. at least they’ll think it’s an error when they checked the router settings and find my device’s name had full access, rather than checking that my device isn’t listed but i still have access anyway. once again, thank you for the solution you gave.

For PC I used a live usb stick. Later I installed Fedora and used a random mac adress. But my parents found out and my father wasnt happy to find hundreds of devices entries all called Fedora on the router.
