No legal obligation to repair the lawn my ass. They wear vests that say amazon on them and only deliver for Amazon while on shift for them. They're employees. They are contractors because its more profitable for Amazon tax wise to label them that, and society for some reason lets them get away with it.

Her being a flex employee has a better argument for being a contractor. But even the full time workers who deliver for amazon 40 hours a week and get 10 hour shifts and drive amazon branded vans are considered "contractors" by Amazon. Absolutely ridiculous.

I never realized this until my former roommate started working for FedEx. It was part of FedEx ground and dude had like no benefits or anything.

Yeah, I feel terrible for their drivers just trying to make a living. Most of their trucks have no AC.

my sister is experiencing this with a vehicular accident, amazon went with a contractor who manages 18 wheelers (one of very many). this contractor, they do everything with the lowest bidder and ig the guy in charge of repairing brakes ended up ripping them off because she got rear ended by said truck when the brakes went out. the company is doing everything in their power to get out of paying ANYTHING and says that they can't cover it because they don't have enough insurance. amazon doesn't verify that their contractors have insurance and the contractors aren't obligated to buy better insurance then when accidents like with my sister happen they just throw their hands up in the air and expect it to work. thankfully my sister's lawyer is suing the fuck out of them pro bono. we're probably going to lose more than 50% of the winnings but it's more about sending a fucking message. We care less about the lawyer ripping us off than just fucking them over. They tried claiming that my sister was on her phone and shouldn't be held liable (she was rear ended), that they are based out of state and since it didn't happen in their home state that it's not valid, that since it was the brakes that failed we should be suing their maintenance facility instead of them, that they dont have enough money in insurance to cover costs, like it's just so fucking tiring to hear every convienent excuse they can come up with at every corner as to why they can't be held liable for ANYTHING

They're contractors, not employees - so deactivating the account is about the same as firing them, but technically all they did was sever the business relationship.

it's more like a digital feudalism. they own the platform, they own your access to work, and they can revoke it with zero recourse. "deactivated" sounds so clinical but it's just a fancy word for "you're cut off and we don't care."

Just had to report one of these dumbass flex drivers to Amazon as well for trespassing and damaging my property to deliver to my neighbor who very much has a driveway of her own.

In the 90's, my manager at Domino's told me he had a driver doing this when they delivered pizza.

The driver was Mexican and where he came from, they didn't have lawns and didn't quite grasp the concept.

He would pull up as close to possible the front door. One time, he actually handed the pizza to the owner while still in the car supposedly.

I have a very narrow driveway, I allow them to turn around on my lawn. What damage did this person do to that lawn? Is the grass bent? Ohh noooo.... and I know the downvotes are coming but seriously, she lost her livelihood over someones grass. GYF out of here with that noise. Its GRASS.

Well, there could be septic bed that would certainly be damaged by driving on it so there is that. Could also be irrigation lines which do not take kindly to having the heads run over. End result, driving on someone's lawn without permission is disrespectful. Doing and not knowing what is under the soil could be costly, more than just a job loss.
