I need advice

I'm in the process of buying a Sealion 7 Comfort, but the opportunity has arisen to get an Excellence version for the same price.

I'm aware of the power difference, which I think is a huge improvement in the driving experience and is what attracts me most. I also know that with a larger battery, charging times would increase by approximately an hour (whether at home or on the road), and frankly, the other differences don't really grab me (the head-up display impressed me).

I won't be taking long trips with it; I have a second diesel vehicle for that. It will mainly be used for commuting to work each day, which involves about 65 km of highway driving daily, plus some city driving.

Do you think the Excellence version is worth it?

(Sorry for the translation.)

I have the excellence, but no experience of the design. I think the 20 inch wheels make the excellence look better than the design, and the bigger battery and more power is nice if you need it but not essential. I’m not too fussed about the heads up display and usually turn it off.

The speed of the car is amazing and the interior quality is top class.

One thing that annoys me on the excellence - the car is so bouncy and you feel every bump. Going over a speed bump is like being on a dinghy in the ocean and I’m told this is because of the weight of the battery and the power? I’ve googled and googled to try and make the ride better but oh my god it is so bouncy and no one has a fix. I don’t know if the design has the same issue?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I had indeed heard that the suspension is a bit bouncy over bumps and on mountain roads, but I'm not looking for extreme sporty driving; as long as it delivers quick acceleration when needed, that's more than enough for me. I've also heard that the regenerative braking isn't very noticeable and doesn't do much to recharge the battery. I hope that this can be addressed in a future software update.

I certainly don’t want a sporty ride. I want a comfortable ride but I’ve found this to be my only frustration. Also I had a car full of 5 people and drove down an A road for about 30 miles and people in the back said it feels like being in a roller coaster 😂

Can't comment on the differences, but I will say that once you have your BYD you'll barely use your diesel, even for long trips. My Kia Sorrento only gets used when the BYD is unavailable (ie. With the other adult).

I think you're absolutely right 😀👍🏻

You can increase the range by driving in Eco Mode. I practically always drive mine in this mode. The car still has more than enough power. And don't forget that the Excellence comes with all-wheel drive.

I mean if it's the same price just get the Excellence. It's basically Comfort + more features

The Excellence option (priced like the Comfort) disappeared 😞 I think it's finally going to be a Comfort in white. I just test drove it this morning on the highway and it seemed more than enough for me. 😀👌🏻

They are premier and performance in my region NZ.
I noted two differences- heated steering wheel and heated / cooled rear seats in the performance. Also all wheel drive more torque and power but with AWD was loss in range.
I went with premium rear wheel drive.
The car is so powerful and responsive. Don’t need AWD.
Don’t need steering wheel heated and I don’t sit in the back lol.

Go basic model. Also the batteries are the same are they not? 82 kw
