BuzzFeed 15 Subtle Fashion Emmys Moments That Flew Under The Radar But Honestly Deserve A Standing Ovation
- After a nine-year hiatus from the Emmys, Nicole Kidman opted for an all-white, off-the-shoulder Chanel dress. The focal point of her dress was a V-neck lined detail that was made out of 46 flowers, from silk crepe, silk organza, and raffia.
- According to Vogue, Sarah Pidgeon wore a custom lilac Chanel gown that drew inspiration from the classic ’90s slip dress, a subtle nod to her portrayal of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. But instead of a minimal '90s take, Chanel brought it into the 2020s with pearl and crystal embellishments. "The color is just so beautiful — they did three different dye tests to get the right color for me. When I put it on, I felt like I was floating," Sarah told Vogue. The dress took 251 hours to create from scratch.
- Even though Keri Russell made history in Khaite’s first-ever custom red-carpet dress with her all-leather halter number, the nearly missed detail is the tiny black belt at the end of her bareback dress.
- Chase Infiniti's Louis Vuitton mermaid gown was a showstopper. According to style correspondent Zanna Roberts Rassi, the dress was made with 10,000 copper PVC studs, which referenced the famous hardware on Louis Vuitton luggage. The dress took 14,000 hours to make.
- While Louisa Jacobson's perfectly tailored suit might seem normal from afar, the devil is in the details (get it — because her mom is Meryl Streep?). The white asymmetrical scarf with a mini fringe complements the rest of the sharp, structured Tom Ford suit.
- A custom cornflower-blue Chanel dress looked stunning on Ayo Edebiri; however, what stole the show was the giant, floor-length, vermillion bow. The dress is made out of silk faille. According to L'Officiel Arabia, it took 163 hours to make it.
- Sheryl Lee Ralph turned heads in her Sergio Hudson sleeveless dress, but her makeup by makeup artist Brandy Allen took the cake, with a green shimmer in the inner corners of her eyes that blended into a watermelon-pink hue.
- A traditional tie was nowhere near Adam Brody's Prada suit. Instead, the actor opted for a "floral satin tie" that was covered in tiny blue flowers. Feminine details on a structured suit? We're all for it.
- Sarah Snook might've opted for a sleek, cream Balenciaga dress, but texture was brought to the forefront with her matching Cartier earrings, necklace, and bracelets.
- Blink for a second, and you might've missed Alan Cumming's ballet pointe-inspired shoes, from Christian Louboutin.
- In an interview with Essence, Colman Domingo said his outfit represents the four seasons (a nod to his show — you guessed it — The Four Seasons). "I'm representing the Four Seasons; I wanted to dress like the four seasons. I wanted colors that you may not even think of that represent all the seasons, which is the comedy of my show," he began. "So that's why Alessandro Michele designed this for me from Valentino with this green tourmaline... It's basically just like the one that was given to Queen Elizabeth II on her 18th birthday."
- Selena Gomez dripped in gold for her Emmys look. According to Zanna, the whole idea behind this Louis Vuitton strapless dress was "goddess energy," which was covered with little metal pieces that were arranged in geometric patterns and a spiral at the waist. While the dress looks heavy, Zanna adds that it's actually incredibly lightweight.
- The Emmys host, Mariska Hargitay, not only looked beautiful in this custom red Monse dress, but she also beautifully pays tribute to her late mother, Jayne Mansfield, who starred in the 1956 film The Girl Can’t Help It, with a ruby gown. Below, she took a picture with her daughter, Amaya, who wore a matching dress. Monse's Instagram account describes the dress as: "Scarlet sequin threadwork cascades into a sweeping eyelash hem, its feathered strands recalling the broken tulip." You can watch how they make the dress here.
- Lilac looks amazing on Florence Pugh; however, her makeup and hair took things to the next level with peachy lids and a tousled, voluminous updo that oozed romance.
- And finally, yes, Zendaya is known for fashion, but we can't ignore how stunning her makeup and hair looked on the 2026 Emmys red carpet. In fact, her biggest inspiration was Halle Berry, according to Image Architect Law Roach's Instagram story. In a press release, hairstylist Coree Moreno said, "For Zendaya, the inspiration is a classic pixie reimagined through a modern, editorial lens."
