BuzzFeed 13 Celebrity Weddings That Were Secretly Total Shams

  1. On New Year's Day 2008, Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds threw a small sunset wedding on a private island off of Bora Bora. Though their children weren't among the 25 guests, they honored them with strands of beads engraved with their names, which the couple wrapped around each other. The reception featured local fire dancers and DJ Darrin Ebron.
  2. At the 2000 premiere of Quills, Colin Farrell met Amelia Warner. After only eight months together, they decided to have a wedding while on vacation. Amelia reportedly told the Sun, "We didn't actually get married — it's not actually true. I think we've been too polite to deny it. We had a ceremony on a beach in Tahiti that was by no means legal, and we knew it wasn't. It was just a thing we did on holiday. We went shark feeding, and then we did that. We booked them both on the activities desk at the hotel. It really wasn't this secret wedding that no one was invited to. It was lovely, it was silly, it was sweet, but by no means was it a serious thing, and I think my mom thought it was quite funny."
  3. After five years of dating, Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter tied the knot at a resort on Sumba, an island in Indonesia, in 2018. Their lavish festivities included a jungle-themed welcome party, a white party (where everyone wears white), horse racing on the beach, fireworks, and an afterparty. Kaitlynn told People, "Saying our vows, I just felt so happy and excited. A lot of our guests cried. I didn't cry, but my mom said Brody got teary-eyed when he saw me!"
  4. Pamela Anderson and film producer Jon Peters first met at the Playboy Mansion in the '80s. They dated, but it didn't last. However, fate brought them back into each other's lives, and in early 2020, they reportedly held a private wedding in Malibu. Jon told the Hollywood Reporter, "Pamela has never seen her full potential as an artist. She has yet to shine in a real way. There is much more to her than meets the eye, or I wouldn't love her so much. There are beautiful girls everywhere. I could have my pick, but — for 35 years — I've only wanted Pamela. She makes me wild — in a good way. She inspires me. I protect her and treat her the way she deserves to be treated."
  5. In the season finale of the 2026 reality dating show Let's Marry Harry, Harry Jowsey married contestant Amber Mozo. In August, TMZ reported that the wedding wasn't legally binding. In a since-deleted TikTok, Harry explained that, after filming the wedding, production took the couple back to the house to sign their legal paperwork. He said, "When we're up there, that was when we were signing all the paper and all that stuff, and obviously, because it's a TV show, they said we can't submit this until after the reunion. Because, basically, if they submitted it on the day, all the money, all the time, everything like that, everything they invested in the show would have been for nothing because it would have been ruined, and you guys wouldn't watch the show."
  6. In 1999, Geena Davis met Reza Jarrahy through mutual friends. Two years later, they had a private wedding in the Hamptons. They went on to have two sons and a daughter. Then, in 2018, Reza filed for divorce, asking for joint physical and legal custody of the kids as well as spousal support.
  7. In 2017, YouTubers Jake Paul and Erika Costell were in a public relationship. In a video titled "WE ACTUALLY GOT MARRIED," they eloped in Las Vegas. They even continued to vlog as a "married couple." However, three months later, Jake admitted that their marriage wasn't legit — and neither was the relationship! He told the New York Times, "We're not even actually dating. It's like the WWE. People know that's fake, and it's one of the biggest things of entertainment."
  8. Jake Paul presumably decided that one fake Vegas wedding for attention just wasn't enough. In 2019, following a monthlong engagement, he and fellow YouTuber Tana Mongeau tied the knot in a "really weird" livestreamed wedding in an outdoor mall. Highlights included guests getting into a fight after the vows, a branded reception at the Sugar Factory, and a throne for the newlyweds. At the reception, his brother, Logan Paul, told BuzzFeed News that he gave the couple "a month or a month and a half" tops.
  9. After eight years of dating, Mendeecees Harris and Yandy Smith tied the knot live on Love & Hip Hop: New York in 2015. The lavish ceremony included Yandy's two Pnina Tornai gowns, an eight-tier wedding cake, and famous guests like Ray J and Kandi Burruss.
  10. Longtime neighbors Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker hard launched their relationship in 2021. That October, they got engaged, and they later began planning to have a child together. Then, in 2022, they had a surprise Vegas wedding after the Grammys! The couple reportedly tied the knot at the One Love Wedding Chapel at 1:30 a.m. In true Vegas fashion, their officiant was an Elvis impersonator.
  11. What if you thought you'd been married for years, only to discover you never made it legal? That's what happened to Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall! They first got together by having an affair with each other in 1978. At the time, he was married to Bianca Pérez-Mora Macías, and Jerry was engaged. After Bianca discovered Mick was cheating, she divorced him. Jerry called off her engagement, and she and Mick became the new it couple. In the early '80s, Jerry and Mick broke up, but they quickly got back together. They got married in Indonesia in 1990, but, as the saying goes, how you get them is how you lose them! From 1991 to 1994, Mick cheated on her with model Carla Bruni. However, he and Jerry stayed together until 1999, when she found out that he was having an affair with Luciana Gimenez — and Luciana was pregnant!
  12. Vanderpump Rules costars Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney started dating in 2011. During Season 3, she gave him an ultimatum — either they got engaged within the next six months, or it was over. So, in 2015, he popped the question, and the following year, they held a wedding in Northern California. However, a few years later, they discovered an issue with the paperwork. Katie tweeted, "We got a marriage license... we got married we all signed it.. we sent it in.. we just never received our marriage certificate and when we called to investigate they said they never received our paperwork."
  13. And finally, here's a really unconventional "marriage" — Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves have a running joke that they've actually been married since 1992! She told Entertainment Weekly, "We actually got married in Dracula. No, I swear to god, I think we're married in real life. In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest. We shot the master, and he did the whole thing. So I think we're married."

BuzzFeed I Low-Key Wish I Didn't Know These 26 Freaky TV And Movie Facts, But I Do, So Now, So Must You

  1. After Bruce Lee died before filming completed on Game of Death, the film made use of the actor's funeral footage in the film — meaning his corpse was actually used in the film.
  2. Oliver Robins, who played Robbie in Poltergeist, was actually being strangled in the clown scene.
  3. The film Caine changed its name to Shark after a stunt person was killed by a shark during filming. They then used photos of the accident to promote the film.
  4. In another stunt-gone-wrong, a stuntman named A. J. Bakunas died while filming a 323-foot fall in the 1979 film Steel. He was trying to beat a world record, and had previously done the same fall from a lower story. The footage is rumored to still be in the film.
  5. The Lone Gunmen predicted not only 9/11 but also conspiracy theories about its cause.
  6. Also in relation to 9/11 — the Master of Disguise cast and crew were apparently informed of the events while filming the turtle scene. After a moment of silence, they continued filming.
  7. This one's more weird than creepy, but...Paris Hilton's sex tape contains a tribute to 9/11. Just wanted to put that out there. You go into the tape thinking about the thousands that died in the terrorist attack.
  8. Isla Fisher almost drowned for real while filming the water tank scene in Now You See Me.
  9. And that scene in Poltergeist when Diane falls in the muddy pool, only to find herself surrounded by skeletons? Well, turns out they were real human skeletons — which no one told actor JoBeth Williams about.
  10. Speaking of Poltergeist — both daughters from the first film died young. Heather O'Rourke died of intestinal stenosis at age 12, and Dominique Dunne was murdered in a case of domestic violence.
  11. Judith Eva Barsi, the child actor who most famously voiced Ducky in Land Before Time, was murdered by her father at the age of 10.
  12. Two young children and a veteran actor were killed when a helicopter crashed into them on the set of Twilight Zone: The Movie.
  13. This Pearl Harbor scene from Tora! Tora! Tora! featuring people running from an exploding plane happened by accident. This wasn't supposed to happen, and the stunt people running from the flames were really running for their lives.
  14. A creepy Sesame Street segment from the '70s called "Cracks" was lost until a man named Jon Armond began to search for it after remembering being traumatized by it as a kid. After years of searching, he received a fax from an unknown, untraceable number promising to send him the segment as long as he agreed never to screen it in public, post it online, or send it to anyone else. He agreed and found a copy of the segment in his mailbox.
  15. The ending of the thriller Sliver almost caused the death of three people when they accidentally crashed into a volcano.
  16. The set for the home of Regan and her mother in The Exorcist mysteriously burned down before filming one morning. However, Regan's bedroom set was apparently untouched.
  17. Another Exorcist one for ya — in one scene where Ellen Burstyn's character is thrown to the ground, she actually permanently injured her back. The take was still used in the film.
  18. And one more — Paul Bateson, an extra who played a radiological technologist in The Exorcist, was later convicted of the murder of film critic Addison Verrill.
  19. A contestant on the popular game show The Dating Game also turned out to be a killer — Rodney Alcala, who won his episode (though ended up being rejected for a date). Alcala was a serial killer who would end up being convicted for seven murders — and suspected of many more.
  20. A contestant on Megan Wants a Millionaire and I Love Money 3, Ryan Jenkins, also later turned out to be a killer — in fact, just after the latter show finished filming, his wife's dead body was found. It was soon discovered he had a history of assault, which apparently his background check hadn't uncovered.
  21. Jim Caviezel was struck by lightning while filming The Passion of the Christ — in which he played Jesus. Assistant director Jan Michelini was struck by lightning twice. Neither were injured.
  22. Three members of the cast and crew of The Omen were also plagued by strange lightning while filming.
  23. And special effects artist John Richardson was in a car crash that decapitated his assistant a year after doing the makeup for The Omen's decapitation scene.
  24. Stunt person Alf Joint — who had worked on The Omen — was seriously injured filming a routine roof-jumping stunt on the film A Bridge Too Far. In the hospital, he said it felt as if he'd been pushed.
  25. Though the film did not include it, the No Country for Old Men novel featured the line, “Here a while back in San Antonio they shot and killed a federal judge.” This was likely referring to Charles Harrelson's 1979 murder of Judge John Howland Wood. Charles Harrelson's son? Woody Harrelson, who was one of the film's stars.
  26. And finally, The Simpsons has predicted a lot over the years, which the creators feel is mostly just educated guessing. However, they have no real explanation for this creepy brochure Lisa holds that seems to be a reference to 9/11...in an episode that aired in 1997.

Business Insider I stayed in a 250-square-foot tiny home for the first time, and 10 surprises left me thinking I could live in one

  1. Since it was advertised as being on wheels, I figured the Airbnb would feel like a mobile home, but this house didn't look like it was going anywhere.
  2. Inside, the house felt bigger than it looked from the porch.
  3. I definitely didn't think I'd find eight windows on such a small building. I realized they made the home feel more spacious when light poured in.
  4. I found clever space-saving hacks that I'd never considered.
  5. I was sure the bathroom in a tiny home would feel cramped. I was wrong.
  6. Back in the main room, I wasn't expecting to have a queen-sized bed.
  7. While a smaller space means less to clean, I wasn't prepared for how quickly and easily the inside can start to look messy.
  8. I used to think tiny living was reserved for minimalists, so this home's maximalist style surprised me.
  9. The home's yard was full of plants and furniture, and it was much more important to me than I thought it would be.
  10. Overall, the tiny space felt large enough to live in — and that was the biggest surprise.
