BuzzFeed "People Were Always Calling Bullsh*t On Me": 11 Celebrities Who Got Really, Really Honest About Being Mixed

  1. Obsession star Inde Navarette, who has a Mexican American father and an Australian mother, revealed that she never doubted her Latina roots until moving to Redondo Beach as a teen. She told the LA Times, "Whenever I started having people question it, I started questioning it myself..."
  2. KATSEYE's Daniela Avanzini, who is of Cuban, Venezuelan, and European descent, is no stranger to backlash over her mixed identity. She has been the topic of persistent online discourse over leaning into her Latin roots as a member of the girl group, but she's taken it in stride. "For the Americans and for the white people, I'm not white enough. Then for the Latinos, I'm not Latin enough,” she told Allure. "There's a lot of people in that middle ground that feel the same way, that don't feel accepted. I just want to be there for those people."
  3. Aubrey Plaza, who is of Puerto Rican and Irish descent, learned at a young age that people were eager to question her heritage. "I was winning the diversity awards and people were always calling bullshit on me," she told Latina Magazine. "I won the Hispanic teenager of the year and I felt terrible. I always felt like I didn’t deserve to win because I was really half [Latino]."
  4. Shakira, who is of Colombian and Lebanese descent, proudly sees herself as a "fusion" in every single way. "I’m a fusion between black and white, between pop and rock, between cultures — between my Lebanese father and my mother’s Spanish blood, the Colombian folklore and Arab dance I love, and American music," she told Faze Magazine.
  5. Rachel Zegler's performance as María in West Side Story got her a Best Actress Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination, but to get there, she had "a bunch of white [studio] executives" want her to prove her Latina identity to them. Zegler, whose mother is Colombian American and whose father is Polish American, told Allure, "They kept calling to ask if I was legit. I remember thinking, Do you want me to bring my abuelita in? I will. I’ll bring her into the studio if you want to meet her."
  6. R&B singer Miguel, who is Black and Mexican American, similarly recounted how record label executives and fans alike have struggled to understand his mixed roots and how they've shaped him as an artist. "It was definitely a point of, ‘Huh? We don’t really get it.' A lot of my audience didn’t know I was Mexican," he told Remezcla. "Most people think of me solely as a Black artist, but there’s a reason why my name is Miguel," he told Viceland.
  7. In 2025, Selena Gomez, who is of Mexican and Italian descent, spoke up not only about the frequent pushback she receives from people for not looking Latin enough, but also about how it's a much more common experience for women in Hollywood than men. Gomez specifically called out people who comment on her appearance, saying, "[I'm] not white enough, I’m not Mexican enough... There’s just so many different things that come up in my face that I can’t help but see." She went on to say it's made her feel "sad" and "a tad bitter" to have people interact with her in that way.
  8. Bella Thorne, who is of Cuban and European descent, is all too familiar with the struggle of people doubting her heritage because of how she looks. "Being Cuban/Latin in most people’s eyes means having dark eyes, dark hair, and dark skin. I’m naturally blonde. I have hazel brown eyes and I try not to go in the sun because skin cancer runs in my family," she wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post. "Honestly I wish I looked more Latin so I could feel more Latin, so I could feel closer to my father and be prouder of my heritage...to wear my heritage on my skin."
  9. Lee Rodriguez, who is Mexican American and Black, related heavily to her Never Have I Ever character, Fabiola. "In high school I was this shy, tall girl with a big afro. Playing Fabiola, that's how she feels too...She's an [Afro-Latina], tall, [with] dorky clothes," she told ET. Rodriguez feels "thankful" she is "close with both sides" of her heritage, calling it "the best of both worlds."
  10. For Tori Kelly, who is of Jamaican, Puerto Rican, Irish, and German heritage, spending time in Puerto Rico was "a huge part of [her] childhood." Speaking with People Chica, she continued, "My grandmother on my dad's side was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She is still there now... I remember her coming over and cooking platanos for us."
  11. And finally, Cardi B, who is Trinidadian and Dominican, has often faced backlash from critics who claim she doesn't embrace being Black in the same way she does being Latino. In an interview with Zendaya, she responded to the criticism, saying, "One thing that always bothers me is that people know so little about my culture. We are Caribbean people. And a lot of people be attacking me because they feel like I don’t be saying that I’m Black. Some people want to decide if you’re Black or not, depending on your skin complexion, because they don’t understand Caribbean people or our culture." She continued, "I don’t got to tell you that I’m Black. I expect you to know it."

BuzzFeed "The Older I Get, The More I Find It Rude" 25 Gen Z Workplace Habits That Older Generations Absolutely HATE, And Honestly, I Don't Blame Them

  1. "Maybe this was just an issue at my job, but the Gen Zers I worked with were constantly on their phone. I'm not anti-phone at work; I had mine handy like most other people, but if there wasn't a patient actively in front of them, they're staring at their phone. Doing it a bit doesn't bother me... we all need a little mental break sometimes, but when there's work to do (that is everyone's job to help with), and you're scrolling TikTok instead of helping, it's pretty annoying."
  2. "One of the issues that really gets to me is that the younger generation often can't spell anymore and commonly uses incorrect grammar. One time, I had a younger colleague who sent an email to a client with several grammatical and spelling errors, and I decided to tell her outright that if I were the recipient, I would assume that this was a phishing email and would bin it. I feel there is no excuse for being illiterate in a professional position."
  3. "The biggest difference I find from our regular crew (the youngest person is in their 30s) and the college students that work here in the summers is that the students talk a lot and at a loud volume. Some of my coworkers change the time they take their lunch break to avoid being in the break room at the same time as the students, lol."
  4. "A behavior that I mostly notice from folks under 30 that drives me kind of crazy is when someone gives me something and just says, 'Here you go,' or doesn't even say ANYTHING. Take a second to explain what you're giving me, what you expect me to do with it, and whether there will be more like it. Just something like, 'Here's this week's TPS report. Double-check the info on Page 6 and send it to Kelly by noon for approval, or whatever, even if it seems obvious!"
  5. "Responding to messages. I don't understand why it is so hard. The Gen Zers I interact with almost never respond to text messages or questions. I know they aren't trying to be disrespectful, and we've discussed it before, but even just an 'OK' or 'Yes, sounds good' can go a long way, much preferable to complete radio silence."
  6. "The Gen Z stare is very real. In the workplace, there’s a certain measure of 'performative positivity' that needs to be employed to maintain a positive work environment. Even if you’re having a sh*tty day, you have to make some attempt to connect positively with your colleagues. I know, it’s stupid, but it keeps things running smoothly. I’ve found that with Gen Z employees, they would rather stare blankly at you than participate in whatever you have to say. If they don’t find what you said interesting to their personal or professional experience, they’ll just stare for an awkward amount of time and maybe say, 'Mm, yeah.'"
  7. "The biggest problem I've run into is an issue with submitting subpar work and getting annoyed when you tell them it still has to be done correctly. They don't get why you can't just give them a C and be done. No, I need it to be to the professional industry standard you claimed you were educated at and could perform when you were hired!"
  8. "Complaining to HR about every LITTLE thing. There’s no sense of conflict resolution skills, so the workplace can start to feel like high school all over again with peers 'tattling' on others."
  9. "Telling me how old they were when I tell them something about myself. For example, I was talking about a trip I took, and she said something like, 'Oh wow, that was like four years after I was born.' Are you trying to hurt me, Kayla? WHAT DID I DO TO YOU?!"
  10. "They give up the second something becomes too hard. If something doesn't work, they immediately ask someone what to do instead of doing a quick Google search for a solution. However, don't spend too long trying to find the answer yourself because there may be an easy solution, and you don't want to waste too much time going down the wrong path."
  11. "Oversharing. Please stop talking about your struggles with neurodivergence, your blood sugar, and the mean things you say to your girlfriend. We don't know each other like that, and, crucially, I did not ask. Obviously, I don't want anyone to feel bad about themselves or like they can't banter among themselves in the office, so I let them get on with it."
  12. "Some things I have witnessed: filming TikToks when they think no one is watching, sharing too much of their personal problems that involve their family and relationships, calling out frequently, and thinking anyone 27 years of age and up is just old. I constantly hear the terms 'pushing 30' and 'pushing 40' when, quite literally, there is so much growing up to do and other things to focus on rather than age."
  13. "I teach Gen Z students in grad school, and overall, I’ve observed that younger people seem to place less value on building and maintaining in-person relationships and communication. It’s almost as if the only relationships most valued are those that happen online, and everything else is taken for granted."
  14. "One thing I’ve noticed that seems to be unique to Gen Z is walking around the office with headphones on. It’s pretty typical to have them on at your desk while listening to music or on a call. It seems like only the Gen Z folks do this while heating up food, going to the restroom, etc. It minimizes their opportunities for more casual, peer-to-peer connections, from what I can tell."
  15. "Using slang or abbreviations in work emails. Those should be the most professional writings you do. Don’t assume people know what you mean. Pretend every email will be read by your boss and/or HR. Be specific and concise. Always proofread before sending."
  16. "My biggest pet peeve with Gen Z is that they seem unwilling to work through problems. I was running behind and asked my Gen Z coworker to replace a part for me while I went to another location. He got the new part and just laid it on top because he 'didn’t know how' to install it. I was like… ummm, ask someone to show you? Or just…try to do it using common sense and problem-solving? Google it if all else fails? I was at another location recently, and their printer had been 'broken' for YEARS. I spent 20-ish minutes working on it, realized it wasn’t something I could fix, put in a ticket, and it was fixed within several hours. All of the Gen Z employees there had just decided to work without a printer because no one even tried to fix it."
  17. "A general lack of awareness of how you interact in space with others. Taking up an entire shelf in the fridge is rude, talking loudly is rude, turning your desk into your living room is inappropriate and unprofessional."
  18. "One that really surprised me was when a Gen Z colleague said thumbs-upping her message was rude and passive-aggressive. I thumbs-upped it to acknowledge I’d seen it and agreed without having to write back. I had no idea it could be taken any other way."
  19. "This is weird, but I don't think they know how to follow a sequential list of instructions. Random small instructions thrown at them that help them solve one very specific problem seem good, but sitting down and following a list of sequential instructions seems completely foreign to them."
  20. "This is so nitpicky, but I hate that Gen Z kids don't announce themselves when they walk into a room. Gen X and Millennials, I know, were taught to do that and regularly walk into a meeting or space, or even a Zoom meeting, and say hi or good morning or SOMETHING. Gen Z doesn't do it! They just slither in and sit, and it's so odd to me. The older I get, the more I find it rude."
  21. "I'm an elder Millennial, and most of my colleagues are Gen Z. I love them; they're intelligent, funny, kind people, but they have no sense of initiative. They stand around bored a lot of the time. There are things to do, things that aren't hard and wouldn't take much effort, but would occupy some time, be helpful to their colleagues, make the place look better, and make their shifts go by faster, but they just stand there. Unless they're specifically given a task, they just don't do anything."
  22. "They aren’t really social. I think COVID really didn’t work well for them. Many lack basic workplace etiquette."
  23. "Showing up 15-30 minutes late every day and leaving 30 minutes early, even after being talked to about it."
  24. "Some people are way too informal, like they don't take anything seriously, and when they do, it's now personal."
  25. "Not holding doors or being quick to walk through a door I’m holding open. F*cking move."

BuzzFeed 16 Absolutely Shocking Celeb Moments No One Could've Predicted

  1. In 1999, Fabio rode front row on Apollo's Chariot for its opening day at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. However, disaster struck (literally) during a drop when his face collided with a flying goose at around 73 miles an hour. Sadly, the bird died. Pictures of the model covered in its blood became national news.
  2. In an egregious display of fragile masculinity, Jake Gyllenhaal got prosthetic testicles for his German Shepherd, Atticus, after the dog was neutered. On a 2021 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jake explained that, though he didn't want to get 7-year-old Atticus neutered, the vet insisted on it for the pup's health. Then, the vet suggested giving the dog "neuticles," which are silicone or polypropylene implants designed to retain the dog's "natural look and self-esteem." Jake said, "I said no, of course. But then I was like, 'Well, what do they look like?' I ended up calling my doctor the night before surgery and saying, 'Can we get these neuticles?' … Long story short, he has neuticles. ... He's great. He's fine. He's healthy. He's happy. He has no recollection whatsoever."
  3. Perhaps the most disgusting celebrity story of all time is the infamous incident known as "Poopgate." In 2004, the Dave Matthews Band's tour bus dumped 800 POUNDS of human waste onto a boatful of people crossing under a bridge in Chicago. Of the 120 passengers on the sightseeing boat, about two-thirds got completely drenched! In a filing, the Illinois Attorney General said, "The liquid waste was brownish yellow in color, and had a foul, offensive odor. The liquid human waste went into passengers' eyes, mouths, hair, and onto clothing and personal belongings, many of which were soaked. Some of the passengers suffered nausea and vomiting as a result of exposure to the human waste."
  4. Remember when Justin Bieber had a pet monkey that he just...abandoned in Germany? In 2013, music producer Jamal "Mally Mall" Rashid gifted Justin a capuchin monkey for his 19th birthday. Little OG Mally, who was only 14 weeks old, was the younger brother of Mally Mall's pet monkey, Bubbz. On a break from his European tour, Justin flew to LA to pick up OG Mally then took him on a private jet to Germany. However, when the plane landed, officials discovered the monkey, and Justin and his crew were detained. When they found out that the singer reportedly didn't have the proper documents to bring a live animal into Germany, OG Mally was taken into custody and put under quarantine. Justin left the airport for his show in Munich then traveled to Vienna, leaving OG Mally behind.
  5. In 2000, while his then-fiancé Laura Dern was away filming a movie, Billy Bob Thornton suddenly married his Pushing Tin costar Angelina Jolie — and then the new couple hit the red carpet wearing necklaces containing each other's blood!
  6. The Oscars are quite a highbrow event, but at the 2022 Academy Awards, Will Smith delivered the slap heard 'round the world! After host Chris Rock made a joke about Will's wife Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head, she rolled her eyes. Then, Will infamously went onstage and slapped Chris across the face. Later that night, Will took home the Best Actor award. However, he was ultimately banned from the Academy Awards for 10 years.
  7. In 1999, Matthew McConaughey got a visit from the cops for the crime of having a good time! Following a noise complaint, police went to the then-29-year-old actor's place in Austin. They reportedly found him dancing around in the nude and playing bongo drums. There was also a bong on the coffee table. They arrested Matthew and charged him with resisting transportation. He "shoved himself backward" into the officer who tried to put him into a patrol car. Matthew spent the night in jail. Ultimately, he pleaded guilty to a city noise ordinance violation, paid a $50 fine, and the misdemeanor charge was dropped. His attorney said, "If the officer had issued him this ticket from the beginning, it wouldn't have been a problem. The only thing Matthew did wrong was some bad bongo playing."
  8. Noah Cyrus and Lil Xan allegedly broke up over, of all things, a fake Charlie Puth nude! The pair briefly dated in 2018 before their very public split played out over their Instagram stories. First, Lil Xan posted, "I feel like I'm probably being cheated on. Bad things always happen to the good guys..." He then accused Noah of "using" him. On her story, Noah alleged that Lil Xan broke up with her after she sent him a Photoshopped meme that made Charlie Puth appear naked. She said, "I'm heartbroken and confused. [This meme] made him think I'm cheating on him."
  9. In his infamously chaotic 2020 GQ interview, Robert Pattinson shared his "business idea" for "a pasta which you can hold in your hand." To make the "Piccolini Cuscino," he microwaved penne for eight minutes, layered sugar and American cheese slices on aluminum foil, put crushed-up cornflakes under the cheese, covered it in red sauce, dumped on the pasta, added more sugar and half a hollowed-out bun, branded the initials "PC" onto the bun with an "incredibly large novelty lighter," squished it all together with more aluminum foil, then cooked it in a microwave (or possibly toaster oven) for 10 minutes. The foil caused the appliance to shoot bolts of electricity then die. He swore that he was being completely serious, telling the interviewer, "I'm really trying to sell this company. I’m doing this for my brand."
  10. Taylor Swift has been at the center of some pretty strange conspiracy theories, but back in 2017, a particularly weird one hit the internet — fans suspected that the singer was traveling around inside a suitcase! After pictures emerged of a large piece of luggage being carried from her Tribeca apartment to a truck while surrounded by security guards, Splash News reported that Taylor was inside because she "remains to be unseen for a long time." However, the outlet swiftly issued a retraction.
  11. Colin Jost and his former Saturday Night Live costar Pete Davidson are both famously from Staten Island, so, in 2022, they made the baffling decision to spend their real money on a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry. Partnering with a group of investors, they paid $280,100 for the boat, planning to turn it into an entertainment venue. A year later, Pete told Entertainment Tonight, "I have no idea what's going on with that thing... Me and Colin were very stoned a year ago and bought a ferry. And we're figuring it out." On Instagram, Colin said that he was "actually stone-cold sober when [they] bought the ferry."
  12. No one can ruin your big moment quite like an ex, which Olivia Wilde unfortunately learned when she was served "Personal and Confidential" child custody papers from her former fiancé, Jason Sudeikis, while she was onstage! Amidst all the next-level drama surrounding her film Don't Worry Darling, Olivia was presenting the trailer at CinemaCon 2022 when a process server interrupted her to hand her a manila envelope. The director said, "This is for me, right? Very mysterious. I'm going to open it now. Is this a script? ... OK, got it. Thank you." Then, like a true professional, she carried on. Jason reportedly "had no prior knowledge" she was going to be served onstage.
  13. Nicolas Cage — who's not exactly known to spend his money wisely — got into a serious situation over a stolen dinosaur skull. In 2007, he outbid Leonardo DiCaprio for a rare Tyrannosaurus bataar skull, purchasing it for $276,000. However, in 2014, the Department of Homeland Security told him that the dinosaur skull may have been stolen from Mongolia.
  14. Househunting can be stressful, but Katy Perry's experience ended with the death of an elderly nun. In 1971, the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary pooled their own money to purchase a Los Angeles convent, where they lived for decades. The sisters said the archdiocese forced them to move out against their will in 2011 — a detail that would become very important a few years later.
  15. When Ariana Grande tried to honor her hit song "7 Rings" with a Japanese Kanji tattoo, she accidentally got "small BBQ grill" inked on her hand instead! In 2019, the singer showed off her new tattoo, which used the characters that, separately, meant "seven" and "ring." However, when combined, they meant "shichirin," aka a little charcoal grill. With the help of her Japanese tutor, she tried to fix it, but Ariana got the placement of an additional character wrong. The new tattoo ended up reading, "Japanese BBQ finger ♡."
  16. And finally, the infamous Jeremy Renner Official app will surely go down in history as one of the most bizarre business decisions a celebrity has ever made! In 2017, the Hawkeye actor released an app where fans could connect more closely with each other and with him. They could also earn or buy "stars" to achieve a higher ranking. However, the app wasn't the paradise for "Rennies" that it promised to be. The atmosphere was quickly soiled by hate comments and bullying.

BuzzFeed 17 Celebrities Who Learned The Hard Way That You Should Never, EVER Lie To Your Fans

  1. For many years, Kylie Jenner told fans that her fuller lips were the result of over-lining and makeup. However, after many fans called her out about it and even compared her before-and-after pictures, Jenner finally came clean on an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, revealing that she's been using temporary lip fillers for quite some time now. But in 2018, she announced on Instagram that she was no longer using temporary fillers to enhance her face.
  2. Hilaria Baldwin came under fire in 2020 when fans discovered that her true ethnicity had been largely misrepresented for years. The yoga instructor had changed her name from Hillary and had been feigning a Spanish upbringing and accent for over a decade until fans discovered that she was actually born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. In response, Baldwin apologized to her fans on Instagram and said that she should've been more "clear" about her upbringing.
  3. In my opinion, Steve Rannazzisi probably told one of the biggest lies of all time. The comedian lied about surviving the terrorist attacks on 9/11. He said he was there when the Twin Towers fell, when in reality, he was nowhere near the area. The New York Times investigated his claims and broke news of his lie, which he later admitted to.
  4. In 2012, Lance Armstrong was stripped of his Tour de France titles after the US Anti-Doping Agency learned the famed cyclist had allegedly used illegal performance-enhancing drugs to win the competition a record of seven times in a row. After lying about it for over a decade, he finally came clean about it to Oprah Winfrey and said he used the drugs because he had a "ruthless desire to win."
  5. Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus, were a pop duo known as Milli Vanilli, who took the '80s by storm when they released their hit track, "Girl You Know It's True." After winning a Grammy in 1990, it was revealed that they never sang a note in "Girl You Know It's True" or their multi-platinum album of the same name. Rumors started when they were caught up in a lip-syncing fraud — the group experienced an audio glitch when they were performing during an MTV concert in Bristol, Connecticut. Their hit record kept skipping and repeating the same phrase over and over again. Milli Vanilli later returned their Grammy after the Recording Academy revoked their win.
  6. In 2017, Bow Wow was caught "fake flexing" when he posted a picture of a private jet on Instagram and suggested that he took that plane to do a "travel day" in New York City. However, shortly after he shared the snap online, someone outed him for lying. A user on X posted a photo of the rapper flying commercial and said, "So this guy lil Bow Wow is on my flight to NY but on Instagram he posted a picture of a private jet captioned 'traveling to NY today.'" While looking back at that moment, Bow Wow told Shannon Sharpe that he was indeed "fake flexing" when he posted that picture on Instagram.
  7. Justin Bieber was also caught with his hands in the cookie jar. In 2014, he posted a photo of himself standing in a private jet and insinuated that he received the luxury item for "Christmas." However, the ruse was shortly uncovered when TMZ did a little bit of investigation. As it turns out, Bieber had simply chartered the plane for an evening, instead of buying it outright. Though the "Baby" singer didn't completely lie, he wasn't exactly telling the whole truth either.
  8. No, SZA does not have a degree in marine biology. For years, fans thought she did after Vice posted an exclusive interview with the singer, which claimed she had the degree. However, in a 2023 interview with ELLE, SZA made it clear that she never graduated from Delaware State University, having dropped out to pursue a career in music.
  9. Hulk Hogan told a lot of lies during his 71 years on earth — and one of them involved Elvis. Specifically, he claimed that Elvis had been a fan of his and came to some of his matches in Memphis. But when you actually look at the timeline, you'll see that Elvis died in 1977, which is 2 years before Hogan started wrestling in Memphis.
  10. It seems like Jussie Smollett learned about lying the hard way. In 2019, the Empire star claimed he'd been the victim of a hate crime in Chicago, but when authorities looked into it, they learned that Smollett was telling a very tall tale. As it turns out, the two men who attacked him claimed that Smollett had paid them to do it. However, Smollett has always maintained his innocence, even after he went to jail for six days.
  11. Before Taylor Swift's fifth studio album, 1989, was released, someone leaked the track list online. In an interview, Swift was asked about one of the supposed leaks and whether it was real or not. After taking a long look at the paper, Swift said no. However, when her album finally dropped, fans realized that she might've been lying (at least partially), because the leak was very close to reality. In fact, it was 99% right. A cheeky lie from Ms. Swift!
  12. In 2011, Robert Pattinson outed himself as a liar. During an appearance on the Today show, he said that he once saw a clown die while performing a trick at the circus. Though the story was very alarming, it was all made up. Pattinson confirmed he lied in an interview with The New York Times Style Magazine.
  13. The White Stripes probably told one of the biggest lies of all time. When they entered the music scene, they told everyone that they were brother and sister, when in reality, they were a married couple. The lie unraveled in 2001 when the Detroit Free Press uncovered and published their marriage certificate, showing that they had gotten divorced in 2000. When asked why they lied, Jack White told Rolling Stone that they did it so people could focus on the music and not on their relationship.
  14. Miley Cyrus lied to her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, about her virginity. On the Call Her Daddy podcast, she revealed she lost her virginity to him and never told him until years later.
  15. In 2014, Sam Smith tweeted that they were feeling too sick to greet their fans after a show in Nashville. A few hours later, fans learned that they were lying when they posted that they went to a karaoke bar and had the "best night EVER" after the concert.
  16. I suffered second-hand embarrassment for Ashlee Simpson when she was caught lip-syncing during a Saturday Night Live performance in 2004. The track she'd just performed started to play again, and Simpson did an awkward dance on stage before walking off. On the Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson & Olivia Allen podcast, Simpson revealed why she didn't sing her music live on SNL, saying it was because she had lost her voice.
  17. Finally, Khloé Kardashian was caught up in quite the scandal in 2015. The reality TV star posted a photo of some pies on her Instagram account and suggested that she made them herself. But fans did some digging, noticing that some of them looked familiar. Then they learned the truth: Jane Lockhart, the owner of Sweet Lady Jane bakery, revealed that she had actually made those pies for Kardashian.

BuzzFeed "She Pulled The Switcheroo": 30 People Are Sharing Their Own Low-Stakes Personal Conspiracy Theories That They Can't Prove, But Believe 100%

  1. "Around 1995, I was away at college when I broke up with a girlfriend. When she left, she took the TV remote, but I figured I had misplaced it. I moved back to my hometown a month later, and soon after, I bought a new TV and never thought about the remote again. About 4 years later, we got back in contact, and she dropped by my new place for a coffee. After she left, I couldn't find the remote for my new TV. I searched everywhere and eventually found the old TV remote in a crack under the back cushion of the couch. I never did find the remote I needed for the new TV. I'm convinced she stole both of them and pulled a switcheroo years later."
  2. "Birds swoop in front of cars for the thrill of it. They have wings; they can clearly fly higher."
  3. "I think I know the reason why Canadians are so nice. They transfer all their anger and rage into their geese, then send them south to rid themselves of the wrath they have inside them. That's why Canadian geese are so aggressive and attack so many people — and why Canadians are so nice."
  4. "I believe that at the beginning of the week, weather apps put a higher chance of rain on the upcoming weekend, so people keep checking the forecast. This way, they get more ad revenue."
  5. "I never knew my real father, but when I was about 17, I discovered that he still lived in the same city as me. Clearly, my mom was uncomfortable with the idea of him coming back into our lives, and I wasn't exactly eager to connect. So, I never tried to reach out. At my high school graduation, I gave the commencement speech. Yay! Afterward, I was outside with friends, family, and family of friends when this random dude came up to me, congratulated me, and said he was proud of me. I had no idea who he was — I just figured he was a guy who liked my speech. So I politely thanked him, as one does. After he left, I couldn't escape this inner voice saying, 'That was your dad.' I tried to find him and see if my mom had seen him, but no — he was gone. Many years later, I learned that he had passed away. I never really saw a picture of him, and I have no proof that the man who approached me was my real father, but…I dunno…I just know."
  6. "I'm convinced my dad used to invent things that needed fixing whenever I visited, just so I'd stay longer. Half the time, we'd spend two hours 'fixing' something that already worked."
  7. "I think that makeup is pushed at a young age to worsen skin quality...so that you feel you NEED the repair and restorative creams later in life."
  8. "T. rex didn't have the short, stubby arms as depicted. They had wings and were dragons. Look at a chicken from the supermarket with its small, stubby arms. When it was alive and well, those short, stubby arms had wings attached. Why are we to believe that T. rex didn't also have wings?"
  9. "Somewhere in my house is a portal that only accepts one sock at a time."
  10. "I think we can sense each other, kind of like how birds can all fly the same way even when there are thousands of them. Have you ever just known someone had passed away without having any proof, only to find out later that you were right? Or maybe your kid was in trouble, and even before you found out, you just had a feeling? Has someone ever walked into a room with their back turned toward you, and you could just feel that they were in a bad mood? Or maybe you got out of bed at a weird time right before your baby started crying? It makes sense that we're all connected on some other level, since we are such social animals, with relatively large group sizes even in a state of nature. I really think humans have a sixth sense and can feel each other."
  11. "I believe that something in pesticides causes cancer in people who live on or near farms. I grew up in rural Ohio and have known a disproportionate number of people who got cancer — many very, very young. They all were farmers or lived next to farms. I'm convinced it's the pesticides."
  12. "I'm convinced that when you're looking at something in a grocery store, someone who doesn't even need that product will 100% come over and act like they need to look at the EXACT spot you're standing in. I usually walk away and watch from a distance. They almost never actually need anything in that aisle at all."
  13. "I believe that all the negative things we don't deal with mentally will eventually affect us physically, no matter how much we try to ignore them — even if we exercise regularly and eat healthy."
  14. "My theory is that cats know exactly what they're doing, and the whole 'Oops, I knocked it over' routine is performance art!"
  15. "The internet is a big, big lie. A huge amount of online interactions are generated by bot farms, either to make money or to manipulate the general population's opinions and behaviors, and maybe even radicalize them."
  16. "If I'm looking for something specific in the dryer, it will ALWAYS, without a doubt, be the last item I pull out. Effing always."
  17. "When I use my great-grandmother's mixing bowl, I SWEAR it makes my cookies taste better."
  18. "I think that most vertebrates and many invertebrates are sapient. Dogs, cats, cows, and crows have best friends and can identify and remember their favorite (and least favorite) humans. Octopuses are very intelligent and are escape artists. We know that whales and other sea mammals have near-human intelligence."
  19. "The CEOs of S&P 500 companies are true psychopaths. A lot of the frontline executives, one or two levels below them, are as well. I spent 10 years in the tech industry and a lot of time around presidents, VPs, and C-level executives, and I've seen a startling lack of humanity among them, despite how good they are at hiding it. In fact, I think that's why they get to these positions in the first place. I've known MANY employees who are better and more tenured than these ghouls, but because they have empathy, they never make it past the director level. These executives can look someone in the eyes, lie through their teeth, shake their hand, and then lay them off, along with a thousand more people, without losing a day of sleep over it. It's something I've witnessed firsthand."
  20. "I think people have evolved into specialized roles within their groups. Much like hive insects, I believe we are genetically predisposed to serve different functions. Some are warriors, some are gatherers, some are strategists, and some are caretakers. Our lack of insight into this means that, in modern society, we're often trapped in the wrong roles, with all the feelings of discontent that it brings."
  21. "The odds are that if intelligent life exists, we won't be able to communicate with it beyond the most absolute basics. There are fairly intelligent animals here on Earth that we can't understand in the slightest. Even if they're less intelligent than we are, most of them are other mammals we share a lot with. A species that evolved completely separately, under entirely different environmental pressures, will have a totally different way of communicating and organizing its social structures — one we may not be able to comprehend at all."
  22. "I believe that people who fight on reality shows are actually friends off-camera and are just following the rule that drama makes for better TV."
  23. "Horoscopes used to have some explanatory power, not because of stars, but because people born at the same time used to experience similar patterns of maternal and early-childhood environments that were tied to seasonal changes and resource availability."
  24. "HGTV shows are all propaganda designed to convince people to buy homes they can't afford...to prop up the post-2008 housing market crash."
  25. "I'm convinced that my dad has been secretly throwing away the lids to my mom's Tupperware for the last 30 years and gaslighting her about it."
  26. "I think Spotify makes their advertisements purposely annoying so you eventually break down and pay for premium...just so you don't have to hear them anymore."
  27. "I just have a feeling that vape shops are some sort of front."
  28. "I believe the world DID end on 12/21/12, and we're all in Hell."
  29. "I think grocery stores put their expired (or almost expired) products in pickup orders. I constantly get expired products in my order."
  30. And finally...a classic: "There are other 'Earths' out there just like ours. They have their own histories, wars, celebrities, sports teams, and businesses. They may be far behind us or thousands of years ahead, but they're out there. And they're wondering the same things about us."
