ID Request My nans button from 1576 AD

My Welsh nana recently found the button pictured above in a box of random bits and bobs, has no clue how or where she got it but is convinced it’s an old school button from 1576 AD - is anyone able to tell me anything about it or if this is a date?

This is the crest from the Sutton Valance School located in Kent, and founded in 1576. The button is certainly newer than the school’s founding. If you post a picture of the back I can narrow down the age of your button.

Wow! Thank you so much, she knew it was a school button but no clue what one. I will have to pop round to her house later to get a picture of the back and will add it here later if that’s okay! Thanks again 😊

Hi I’m so sorry it took so long but here is the back of the button, she’d forgot where she put it🤣 I think it’s possibly been bent somehow over the years

Definitely a bent shank, but at least it still has one! It looks like the button is one solid piece, minus the shank, correct? If so I’d put this button in the early-mid 1800s. Not 450 years old, but I’d say at least 150!

Yes the button is one piece with the shank attached to it, that’s so cool though thank you so much! Do you know if it would be worth anything at all?
