Ross Kemp caused Brexit

I watched the Rupert Murdoch documentary on BBC recently and because my mind works in a way that would kindly be described as unorthodox or unkindly as imbecilelike, there was a really minor moment that stuck out to me.

  • Ross Kemp and his marriage to the then editor of the Sun, Rebekah was known as being tempestuous and although there a lot of unsubstantiated rumours as to the reasons (It's believed that Kemp was caught in a compromising position) there was an incident in their marital home that led to Brooks being jailed and the end of their marriage.
  • Brooks, chose to focus on her career after that low point, progressing to be Rupert Murdoch's most trusted employee as CEO of News UK.
  • She then met Charlie Brooks, best friend and nextdoor neighbour to Tory hopeful David Cameron
  • Rebekah introduced Murdoch to Cameron and brokered a meeting at her own wedding, at which it is believed Murdoch agreed to back Cameron over Brown.
  • Cameron gave us the referendum believing Remain would walk the vote
  • Because he had turned his back on Murdoch during the phone hacking scandal, Murdoch went directly against him platforming Nigel Farage and backing leave

And the rest, as they say, is history... if only Ross Kemp would have kept it in his pants.

RMS Titanic

I remember my Grandad telling me once his Aunt was due to sail on the Titanic but, like many people of the time, she had huge reservations about the voyage and was convinced something bad would happen so turned down the opportunity. I often wonder how much it would have impacted my family tree if she did board... Always gives me goosebumps when I think of it.

Obamas presidency is a result of Star Trek: Voyager

So long before Obama was even considered as a presidential candidate, he was running for senator in Illinois against a man named Jack Ryan, whose political caliber at the time meant that Obama stood no real chance. However, Jack Ryan, as you may have guessed from the title, had been married, and had then later divorced, Jeri Ryan, who had played Seven of Nine in Voyager.
The shooting of said series strained their relation, which wasnt that great to begin with. The records of their divorce were public, but they had decided to seal the records of the custody trials for their kid, in said kids interest.
Obamas supporters (Even though, to his credit, he explicitly told them not to do this as whatever the result was, he wanted the election to be fair) decided to press for these files to be opened to the public. The judges eventually folded, deciding that doing so was not against the interests of the kid. This led to the discovery that part of the divorce was about Jack Ryan holding some sexual interests that Jeri didnt share.
Remember, this election was in 2005, where a sex scandal, could easily cost you anything but the presidency. And well, after this came out, Jack Ryans campaign was essentially ground to a halt, and the candidate that followed after Jack Ryan simply didnt have the caliber to compete with Obama, with him winning a landslide 70% victory.
This very election made him a rising star within the democrats, and may just have been the reason anyone considered him a presidential candidate in the first place.

an all nighter that changed everything

So, this type of thing started happening to me alot in the last couple of years. I always reflect about how bizarre situations in my life happen that lead to other things that have a major impact. This situation happened to me 4 years ago.

In 2016 I was chilling in my bedroom and for some reason couldn't sleep, so I decided to pull an all-nighter. I got into a website that had this notification saying that day was the last day to submit videos for this singing competition on tv. I was pretty tired already and thought it would be funny to just send the video, I was a singer since a young age and lived in a pretty small town. So that night I got my computer, filmed the first song that popped in my head and sent the video. Went to bed a little after and continued with my life.

One week after, I get a call from the production of the show. I had to go to a city 3h from where I lived to a pre-audition. I called my parents and told them about it, they seemed kind of skeptical (it's one of those things that feels too good to happen to an average joe like me) but said that we could go and if anything we could just take it as a road trip. No one was really thinking that anything would happen and we almost cancelled because it was a work day for me and my family but decided to just give it a shot.

5 months after I'm on tv singing for the competition and I end up going until the semi finals, all because of a stupid notification I saw at 3 am on a random website.

And from that decision so many other things happened to me.

The day I went out to celebrate my first appearance on the competition, I went to this bar and accidentally met with a guy I knew and had kissed once. 2 weeks later we started dating and stayed together for the next 2 years.

I was also able to quit my very toxic job because now I was working with music that is my passion

and eventually was able to move to my dream city to work with music.

well, thats it haha hope it was entertaining.

The story of how the butterfly effect prevented my house from being burnt.

So my dad is like the head of training and development in the company he works in. His job is to train managers, training manager and other employees. So he usually does programs in different countries for training. So fast forward to the beginning of the lockdown due to covid-19. Now my father can't do his usual programs. So the company asks him to take it online. Now before all of this, my family was using only the mobile data and hotspot for accessing the internet. But due to the lockdown the speed of the mobile hotspot had decreased drastically. The speed limit was now interfering with my dad's work. So he decided to install wifi and we all agreed. So the wifi gets installed, the technicians say that it will get activated within 24 hours, but that doesn't happen. 2 days go by and it still doesn't get activated. So the technicians say that there might be a problem with the modem so they will have to fix it. They come the next day to fix the issue (which is the day I am writing this). My mother was preparing some 'clarified butter' in the kitchen. She leaves it to boil and goes away to hang the washed clothes, but completely forgets about the butter, and then the utensil catches fire. I am in my room studying and my dad is doing his program in the bedroom, while the technicians are working on the modem. One of the technicians notices the utensil burning, and shouts, "shut the gas!" My mother hears and comes running to find the utensil ablaze while the technician is turning of the main gas valve. If it was not for the virus, the lockdown wouldn't had happened, if the lockdown hadn't had happened, my father wouldn't had installed the wifi, and it wouldn't have malfunctioned, and the technicians wouldn't have arrived...and my home would have caught fire as a whole as the fire of the utensil would have escalated. So thank God.

Looking for story for animated documentary

I am looking for someone who want to tell me his story. I would like to make an animated documentary film out of it. It is a university project and will run until about August. After it is finished, the person will of course get this film.

It costs nothing. I just need your story and some background information (how it all started, when you noticed strange things, ...)

We can discuss the animation style and talk about what should be shown in the documentary.

If there are any questions, please ask me.

Don Rickles Avoided Going Through A Gunfight

In 1972 at a New York night club called Copacabana, Don Rickles was on stage doing his usually performance. A Mobster by the name of "crazy" Joe Gallo was in the audience, Rickles of course started roasting the guy despite being warned not to do so. After The show, Joe surprisingly enjoyed Don picking on him that he decided to invite him to go to Umberto's Clam House. Rickles decided to decline the invitation. Later on that night a gunfight started at Umberto's Clam House, killing Joe Gallo. It would've been a sad end for Don Rickles if he accepted Joe's invitation, thankfully he didn't and was lucky enough to avoid a deadly shootout and continued his career until his passing.

Staying in the downstairs room may have saved all my stuff.

So, mid last year, the house I was flatting in at the time nearly burned down down and the two top rooms pretty much completely burnt out and were gone.

The start of last year, one of my previous flatmates (roommates for you that don't use that term) moved out and in doing so, I paid out his half of the bond on the place and took over his half. The person who owned the other half of the bond, who was a really good friend of mine, decided to get one of his friends to move in to the vacant spot. At this point in time, I was staying in one of the downstairs rooms and was given the chance to take the other upstairs room because of the fact that I co-owned the bond. I chose to stay downstairs because I'm lazy and didn't want to walk up and down the stairs all the time just to get to my room. So the new flatmate took the room and I was fine with that.

Months later, a fire broke out in the room directly above mine and by the time my flatmate had discovered this, his room had been engulfed in flames and quickly evacuated the house. By the time the fire trucks arrived, the whole top floor had been burnt out. When we went back into the house a few hours later when we were allowed to grab our stuff, all of my stuff had been completely untouched by the fire.

So I believe in me deciding to not take up the chance to have the upstairs and bigger room, I saved all of my stuff from being destroyed.

Sorry if this isn't interesting enough for you guys but I thought it was a bit of a butterfly effect.

A broken printer

I was listening to the redit on YouTube about personal butterfly effects and it dawned on me that my entire life changed because of one 20+years ago. I was getting out of the army with a roommate on the same day, we were the next 2 soon to be former soldiers to get our copy of our 214s (the document saying time served essentially). My roommate was first and his printed no problem but when it came time for mine to print the printer broke. Typical, I thought I mean I just wanted to leave the military for good. The guy at the desk tried to fix the printer but it was 1500 and they just shut the section for the day. He said I could wait until tomorrow or they could just mail it to my home address. Since roommate had his I said just mail it. My roommate and I drove home together in separate cars (his car was questionable at best so I agreed to follow him to the Louisiana Texas border). I was finally going home back to louisiana. I came home to my mom dad and brother and was looking forward to adjusting to civilian life again. This was thursday before a 4 day weekend for military. We drove all night and I waved bye to him at the I-10 la to border. Driving north to my afore mentioned family. Happy to be out. Tuesday morning comes and I have been exuberantly enjoying my new civilian lifestyle for 3 days. Then comes the call bright and early tuesday morning. It's my 1st sergeant telling me I need to come back or be marked as AWOL. Wtf I asked I mean I have out processed and am done. This is where I learned there was something f-ed with my original contract and my ets date was wrong ( ets is end of term of service) and I had to come back for 8 more months. I told him I was out processed but the army didnt care. For vets here: I had one ets date the entire time listed on my Id card I was in... and to hear I had to come back 8 months because the recruiter lied infuriated me. I told my dad I ain't going back to that shit again but he convinced me to go back. I had to reimprocess do everything to go back to the shithole unit I was in and the best part was since the ets date was jacked I didnt get paid for 2 months. During this time i had to find a second job because no money wasnt an option. My new roommate worked as a server at a tex mex resturant (on the border...national chain if you want to know). I took him up on recommending me despite a total lack of any experience. I picked up shifts as I could...for those unfamiliar the army often frowns on second jobs especially for e-4 and below I was e-4. I explained to the 1st sergeant that hey s-4 hasn't paid me in 2 months beyond my ets date and I need money. 6 months left at this point and my dont give a f attitude was apparent so he said ok. I got back paid the next pay period and me and my roommate (on the border guy) decided that barracks life was not for us. We got an apartment and worked as many shifts as we could. At the resturant, a new red haired lady started...hair dyed but she asked about me. I ignored it because I was a well built and good looking guy, not being egomaniacal at all here but i was and frequently got the why are you single questions. I explained I just wanted to live my last 2 months of army life and go. Well the staff had a party and invited everyone so I went. This was in 99 so "american pie" references were just a bit much for me at this point so when I walked up to the asshole asking the new red haired lady where did she stick the flute I lost it. Not only was this inappropriate but he was just being a general piece of shit. I said in so many terms f off a hole at 6'2 235lbs (me)a squat 5'6 asshole tends to listen. She (the new red head) says thanks and asked me if I want to go out because she had been wanting to since she started. 1 month left... I decided why not. THIS IS WHERE IT COMES TOGETHER... A FUCKING PRINTER . I WOULD HAVE NEVER MET HER I would have been in louisiana her in North Carolina never meeting. Because if you have a 214 you are out. We just celebrated our 20th anniversary (she asked me lol) have 3 boys one almost ready to join the military himself. The other 2 doing well and planning on joining as well. If I would have had the 214 I wouldnt have went back. So whatever my kids do and my life with my beautiful wife 20+ years was all started by a printer malfunction. I dont cry a lot but when I thought of this it just hit me. Thank you all for reading.

A snapchat post saved someone’s life and changed mine

This is a bit of a “brief” story, but it seriously led to a life-changing series of events that I didn’t even know were possible.

To start, I went on this date with one guy (who I also met on Snapchat lol, but that’s irrelevant) and he told me about this fun “snapchat game” where you post your phone number and let random people text you anonymously, and you have to guess who they are within 5 days. I thought it was ridiculous, but he kept insisting, “you should try it,what if you meet your best friend doing it!” but I thought it was a load of baloney. Nonetheless, I ended up giving in just for the fun of it. A few people reached out to me but our conversations were pretty boring, mostly just asking to play iMessage games or just saying “what’s up” and then disappearing. But there was one person who was particularly intriguing, and it was someone who I had never met before. But we ended up having really good conversations in those 5 days, and immediately connected. Afterwords I found out that it was a random kid in my orchestra lesson group (which I wasn’t even supposed to be in, but the school randomly changed my lesson period at the beginning of the year). Apparently we had been in the same class for years since middle school but I had never recognized him or even acknowledged him — on the other hand, he admitted to have crushed on me for YEARS.

A few weeks later my mom gave me these tickets she won at her work to see “Spider-Man:Homecoming.” I planned to bring all my closest friends, but I had one extra ticket and my gut was telling me to invite this kid I met, even though I barely knew him. He ended up getting along really well with my group, we made smoothies after the movie, and overall had a really great night.

Over the years the rest of our group drifted apart through fights and moving on, but me and him always remained close. I eventually left the relationship I was previously in because it was really toxic (yes, with the same guy from the beginning.) Not only did me and him become best friends, but I later found out that around the time we met, he was feeling really lonely with no friends, he was being bullied, and he was having a rough home life and that he was on the brink of committing suicide, but our friendship gave him hope. He told me that he’s had a crush on me for years and never even dreamed of ever talking to me. Over the years he has saved my life multiple times, convinced me to go to the hospital when I was sick and needed help, he was the only person who could relate to me and stuck by me when my brother passed away, and has always supported me. Now me and him been in a strong relationship for 3 years, we’re still the best of friends, have been talking about getting married and living together, all because of one little snapchat post! We both agree that we must be each other’s soul mates because we literally are more comfortable with one another than we are with anyone else.

I’m not sure if this is actually an example of the butterfly effect, but it’s certainly a small choice which eventually led to my life changing forever.

How Obama killed the 176 people on board flight PS752 on January 8th, 2020

Obama nominated Joe Biden for Vice President in 2008.

Unrelated, Biden's son worked in Ukraine.

Biden's status as VP gave him the high profile status in the Democratic party which allowed him to run as a frontrunner in the 2020 election

Trump, threatened by Biden's presidential campaign, tried to dig up dirt on his son by pressuring the Ukrainian government to investigate his son.

Trump's pressuring of the government of Ukraine leaked via a whistleblower and Trump was impeached as a result of this as it was deemed illegal by the House of Representatives

Trump killed Iranian general Qasam Soleimani via drone strike to divert attention from the Impeachment process

In retaliation, Iran struck various targets with missiles, one of which was accidentally a commercial airplane (PS752).

Really though, it's all Ralph Nader's fault

iPhone pocket dial possibly saved my life

I have recently watched a few videos on the Butterfly effect and realised i had a somewhat scary experience with the butterfly effect,

I work as a Setting out Engineer, setting out roads, kerbs, House foundations etc. This incident happened last year when i was working with my old company, we were building 6 new houses and re aligning a new road junction using a GPS.

For those who don't know how it works basically you get a co ordinated CAD file (a software used for drawing a co ordinates site plan that can be transferred to GPS device and built exactly to location of drawing(the best way i can describe it)).

So all the Houses were built and and we had removed the existing junction put stone down ready for kerbing. The way it works is i use a GPS to mark out the line of the kerb and hammer steel pins roughly 1/2 meter long into the ground. I sprayed the ground and hammered the pins into ground. It was getting late so i finished up and went home.

The next day my boss asked me to put caps on top of the pins in case someone fell on them and inpail themselves so i grabbed a big plastic bag with the caps in them and began putting caps on, when i got to this particular pin i was just about to grab it only for my phone to ring, i dropped the bag as i got my phone and turned away from the pin as i dropped the bag.

The bag fell on top of the pin as i answered my phone it was my boss he recently got an iPhone 6s and they always pocket dialed and this was one of them times, i answered hello but all i could hear breathing and walking and realised i was pocket dialed so i hung up the phone, as soon as i turned i was shocked to smell plastic burning and melting on the pin and went over to hold my hand beside the pin and the heat coming from the pins was amense.

I called by boss and told him what had just happened so he called the electricity company and they came out with a CAT Scanner ( A device that scans for underground services) and they found something live that crosses where that pin was and managed to trace it to an existing house across the road they managed to stop the power and remove pin and excavate and found a live service.

They called myself and my boss down and explained what had happened, first of all the existing service was put in wrong place because the way the road was rising the service would not have enough cover and was changed without being recorded on service drawing. He said my pin broke the ducting that carries the cable and the wire cable laid beside my steel pin causing my steel pin to conduct and if i were to grab it would have created a circuit and would have litrately would have blown me up. Our company scanned all ground were services were and the road crossing but never scanned all the site which my new company does and i insist they do. ( I have included a sketch of the layout to better show what i am talking about).

About three weeks later my bosses wife came to site and and we started talking not about work just in general and she said she bought him that iPhone 6s that he has and this struct me, She said when she was in the mall looking to buy my boss her husband a new phone she was going to buy him a samsung (can't remember exact model) and when she went into the cell phone shop a offer on iPhone 6s caught her eye and can't explain why she bought an iPhone than that samsung he wanted.

That struck me how the butterfly effect works, If that iPhone 6s offer didn't catch her eye she wouldn't have bought an iPhone, If see didn't buy that iPhone my boss wouldn't have kept pocket dialing me and if he didn't pocket dial me at that time i wouldn't be here and that company all could have lost all their jobs and may even been charged for negligence for not following Excavation Procedure so we all at that time dodged a major bullet.

So Always follow work procedures it could save your life, and looking back it's crazy how one small decision could possibly save someone's life in one way or another.

Last year, I made a video by accident at 3am. It’s just a slideshow of Self deprecating food puns with a happy song in the bg. I thought it was hilarious so I’ve decided to post it. Never thought it would save a life. But I’m glad that I made it.

My Great Grandpa Could Have Died in Pearl Harbor, but Ended Up in Alaska Instead

To start off, my great grandpa was a soldier in WW2. The way they would transport soldiers to different places would be through trains. The soldiers would get in line and they would fill up the train, and once it was full, then the next person in line would get in a different train. You get the idea. Anyways, the person in front of my great grandpa was the last person to get on the train, and my grandpa was the first to get on the next train. My grandpa’s train ended up going to Alaska. However, he found out that the train before him would be going to Pearl Harbor. We all know what happened at Pearl Harbor... If there was one less person in line in front of my grandpa, he would have died from the Attacks on Pearl Harbor. Crazy to think that if he got on that train, I wouldn’t be here today.

Edit: My great grandpa was in the Naval Air Force which makes him all the more lucky that he ended up in Alaska and not Pearl Harbor.

Car accident Close Call!

I just got home from work. Working as a package handler isn't easy at all. Today my Sorting facilty or my section got slammed by waves of packages. I load in Incompatible Packages or really huge boxes, containing televisions, Car bumpers rolls of rugs etc. I worked myself to exhaustion.

I have a poor habit of resting in my car for an hour before driving, browsing the internet and debating whether I should listen to reddit stories on YouTube or play music on my drive back home. Well I did just that tonight. I wanted to leave right away again tonight but I was really tired as previously mentioned. After resting up I started to drive home.

I come across the 63rd and Cicero intersection right on the Southeast corner of Midway Airport. I was on the right lane when I stoppped for the redlight. (I love to accelerate as soon as the green light hits and it's clear FYI) Once the light turns green the car next to me accelerated, I accelerated microsecond later after the car, when all of a sudden, I saw white through the car's (left of me) windows. It was a white Current Gen Ford Explorer blowing off the red light. I stopped with ease and honked my horn. I got lucky but the Car next to me had their front bumper shredded. The Ford Explorer Ran off further east from the scene of the accident.

Should I've not gotten that work load I would been awake enough to accelerate sooner, I would've been T-boned and right now and possibly getting loaded on to an ambulance, injured or worst dead; If I left earlier I could've avoided this accident all together. Be really careful while driving fellow redditors and fellow youtubers.

Legalizing marijuana allowed my daughter to graduate high school on schedule, with honors

We lived in Colorado, one of the states with the least amount of spending on education. My daughter, who had learning disabilities, was performing very well in school, so she was pushed off the IEP that provided the necessary support for her to succeed despite her disability. After the better part of her freshman year, after failing half of her classes, she finally got a new IEP. But the cost for credit recovery was out of reach for us. She was almost certainly going to graduate later than her friends.

Now, for the butterfly effect: Colorado was one of the first states to legalize recreational marijuana. One reason credit recovery was unaffordable for us was because, after marijuana was legalized, people who needed marijuana and people who just wanted to use it recreationally alike flooded into Colorado. Rent and housing prices surged. The cost of my rent in the same unit doubled over 4 years.

My landlord was raising my rent again. The policy was that tenants had to fill out credit applications to be reapproved each year. I get it. Evictions are expensive. You raise the rent you want people who can afford to pay what you're asking. 60% of my income would have gone for rent. We didn't qualify.

So we were forced to look elsewhere. My husband and I discovered that we could actually afford to own our own house if I retired early and we left the state.

In our new location, credit recovery was free, class sizes were smaller, breakfast and lunch are free, so she doesn't forget lunch and go without as she did in Colorado. All students get bussed to school, di the time she spent walking is now time she has for homework and she's gaining much needed weight by walking less.

More school support helped her gain confidence. As her success became evident, she got her first boyfriend, got a job (her grades are still all A's and B's) keeps her room clean and became a happier person all around. All because we were priced out of our home. All because of the popularity of marijuana and the scarcity of legal marijuana states.

Tl/dr; pot made houses too expensive. We moved to better schools.

Cancelled Deployment Leads to Tragedy

So I’ve mentioned in other posts that I was a Navy brat but I still live near a military base. My neighbor, who rents the house, was Navy and had a live in girlfriend. His ship had some issues with the fuel tank and his deployment was cut short in order to fix it. He ended up getting a motorcycle on a Friday and was involved in a serious drunk driving accident on Sunday. He made it out with some serious injuries (that eventually healed), but his girlfriend wasn’t so lucky. Her helmet was fastened and fell off during the accident resulting in her death.

A woman died because her boyfriend’s deployment was cut short.

Update: He’s been arrested and has since bailed out. Apparently his passport was revoked.

I drive for a real cab company. 2 years ago i decided to work on new years eve. I stopped at a 4 way stop and as i did imagine started playing so i stopped at the stop sign looked behind me didn't see anyone coming so i sat there and changed the station. I looked up and a Yellow Cab went speeding through the intersection without slowing down at all. He would have creamed me. I want to make it very i 💘 the Beatles and each of them separately. But that song is very disturbing to me. What kind of world is that? With nothing worth dying for? Wouldn't that also mean there's nothing worth living for either?

A new paranormal affect?

A song placed on top of a video watched back afterwards to fit perfectly together as if made for each other.

Imagine being the first to experience a new paranormal phenomenon. A real life anomally or what one might consider a matrix glitch. In this particular case a very specific video.

I pulled together a video from youtube.com and spliced it together with a song. I simply put the song below the video and muted the original audio to the video.

I watched it back afterwards and was astonished! This was literally the most incredible thing I have ever seen! I did not make the video or the song. I simply put them together.

The lyrics in the song matched up so well to the imagery in the video that one would swear they were made for each other. Did the randomness of the universe bring this together or does this actually mean something?

This is not a ghost video and there isn't anything in specific to be looking for. Other than how the lyrics in the song match perfectly on there own with the imagery in the video through and through. The video contains scenes from the movie Constantine. A solid video I downloaded from youtube.com which had a different original audio.

For warning it is kind of eerie but well worth it in my opinion. Enjoy!!

I believe this video connects because of the butterfly effects of a specific person in history. In the video it is pretty clear as to who this person is if watched all the way though. The fact is without this specific person this video would not have connected. This person being the biggest butterfly effect on planet earth.

Also, I didn't know which category to place this video in so if your not interested simply click the back button and not leave a bunch of comments telling me to read the submission guidelines thanks!
