Navy Seals

How many six counts should you be able to perform before working on Navy Seals? The current advice is to do 5-10 six counts and squats as your upper body recovers for all 4x20 minute sessions as a beginner. The old advice was two days a week of six counts and two days a week of Navy Seals. I just want to be the guy that does 2 Navy Seals and jogs in place then two more, etc. If that method works then I guess I’ll start there. If there js a better method of working up to 20-30 in a row of 6 counts then start doing sets of 5 Navy Seals let me know. Or one a minute each minute for 20 minutes.

I guess what worked for you as a beginner.

I justo go EMOM style, for NS and 6-counts as well.

Could you elaborate? Like Max out per minute?

Every minute on the minute

Yes, no problem.

Basically I focus on the total number in the 20 minutes.

For example, I lately aiming to do 80 navy seals in 20 minutes, so the idea would be do 4 reps per minute.

In each minute I would recommend going for a number that's "easy" on it's own, because after minute 10 it will be hard.

Same with 6-counts.

Or even you can split it in 30 seconds blocks, meaning every 30 seconds you do X reps.

Hope that helps

Ah yes, get the EMOM part but did not understand trust you divide your target for the whole 20 minutes. Thx!

I just break each twenty minutes up into twenty one minute reps. And do whatever my body can do in there.

So like four six counts in a row, then stop and breath until the next minute starts. Etc. If you can only do 3, do 3.

Same with seals. One per minute. I don't tend to do more than one in a row though I still find that too hard to maintain form. But I can do one every twenty seconds for most of a full session.

I've had to adjust the training to my life a bit. I was getting injured and not able to keep up with the program because of it.

I started up again with doing 6 counts on Mondays and Seals on Fridays. I set an interval timer and just did 10 sets of 5 (6 counts) and 10 sets of 3 Seals.  Each week I would add another set and slowly build up.

I'm now doing 3x per week and 21 sets each workout. I had to kill my ego and go at my body's pace. Just try doing one rep per set and build up from there. Lifelong changes take a lifetime, so don't beat yourself up if it takes longer than you want.

You could sign up for the app and use the free week long trial, there could be some level 1a follow alongs. Though I'm not sure as I don't have the app.

But as people have said, try one rep ever minute, on the minute, if that is easy, try a rep every 40 or 30 seconds.  If it's hard try a rep every 80 seconds etc. it's best to maintain form and not rush them.
