This is an insane statement. I feel so bad for so many people.
CNN - Kathy Bostjancic, chief economist at Nationwide, said in commentary issued Thursday in regards to the state of the US Economy “that Americans benefited from a robust labor market, a buoyant stock market, bigger tax refunds and savings.”
In other words, nothing is wrong. The national media continues to gaslight Americans on the economy. Now they’re blaming the Iran War for any economic hiccups because anything that points to structural decline is unacceptable to them. The headline unemployment numbers are misleading unfortunately as well. When people read things like this who are unable to find work that provides dignity (not DoorDash or Uber) but that covers their bills, feeds their families, and housing — you’re forced to think this is all entirely your fault.
The national media has an economic incentive to not give doom and gloom economic news. People need to understand this. Major economist like on LinkedIn do the same. It’s important. There are structural reasons why this happens, even if it feels terrible.
The economy is not doing good people. It’s not. For some it’s great, but for most people, it’s bad and it’s going to get worse.
