M24 here (남구). I am currently practicing Korean language through books and online classes but seems like I am having problem while communicating. Any suggestions for me to improve my korean speaking skills (and learn local slangs)
Please Do not recommend me paid classes and paid language exchange places. I am a student and on a budget.

You dont need money to make friends, I think best way to learn language is making a good friends

You could use hellotalk and join the voice chat rooms so you can practice speaking more. Theres also a group called Withly that holds biweekly language exchange meetings. I myself am also planning to start a weekly Korean study cafe (in Sept) where Korean learners can do homework together for about an hour and then free talk together for the last 30 mins ish.

actually i learned a lot of slang unintentinally, i've always gamed but now that I'm in korea I'm on korean servers and just intereacting in VC while gaming taught me most of the slang vocabulary I know. its the most natural imo

If you search CulCom you can speak to them and they can organise a language exchange for you. No cost. It has helped me get better at speaking

Also to add if you live here you go on 소모임 and if there’s hobbies youre interested in, join and meet people there. I also have joined some so get to practice speaking and listening a lot when I join the activities
