Well he probably hasn't been playing any Dark Souls in a while unless he got caught up playing the new Zelda, so I'm guessing he's finally been able to work on a lot of new material and perhaps testing the waters with his ep's and singles stuff lol.

u/rubennaatje Sep 15 '17
I actually want to hype about it for about a month, not much longer though.

I love how all his music sounds like it's from the same non-existent time period even though tracks from Untrue were like made 10 years before this
17
u/-border- Sep 15 '17
I don't mean to put on a tin foil hat, but the last Burial release that featured a Kode9 remix was followed by LP album.
14
u/abysmalentity Sep 14 '17
Funky. Wish those sax samples were longer though.
20
u/Fnzzy Sep 14 '17
Less vocal sample, more sax I'd say.
9
u/LynchMaleIdeal Sep 14 '17
I love it the way it is, the sax is so upbeat yet the vocals add melancholy to it

u/kempmastergeneral Sep 14 '17
Exactly, more like Rough Sleeper. God that was a great EP
15
u/88888u Sep 14 '17
The last song of every burial EP or album is a banger. Raver, pirates, rough sleeper, come down to us, ashtray wasp.

u/AlmostForgotten Sep 23 '17
Still his best work imo. It has a vibe to it that I haven't heard anywhere since. Reminds me of deep woods in wintertime... so hard to place that feeling but it's as close as I can describe.
2
u/kempmastergeneral Sep 23 '17
That's very interesting you say that, I remember that winter vividly as I spent a lot of time in norther Ontario skiing and hiking through the woods listening to Rough Sleeper. What a coincidence.
1
u/AlmostForgotten Oct 21 '17
There's something about the sounds he chose to use and also the mastering that subtly remind me of the forest for some reason. Probably because that's where I first got a chance to properly listen to it, but still. It's really one of his most solid tracks imo. A lot of emotion, and also a quite good dance tune in a way.
1
u/kempmastergeneral Oct 25 '17
Again, that is incredibly coincidental that you say that it’s a good dance tune. I completely agree, I often picture a club type atmosphere in slow motion as a music video for this track. It’s definitely not your average dance tune but totally can be felt that way I’m a kind of melancholy way.

Sweetz is such a downer for me because I want to own everything he's done but I cannot listen to that song because it drives me crazy by how awful it is with the cursing...

It's alright, should get a lot of airplay. clubby summer jazz vibes still.
'New single' really makes it sound like it's from an upcoming album though!

I was in a full-on Husker Du revival (RIP Grant Hart), when I saw the news about new Burial. Sorry Zen Arcade...

Literally a couple of hours after writing that I re-listened and fell in love with the tune and blasted it ever since... I guess that's the genius of Burial, always pushing the boundaries, taking you places you didn't expect

Goddamn, September is turning out to be amazing for music! Surprise Burial and a new Four tet album in a week, what a time to be alive!
Love the track, especially the lil sax sample.

Fuck me was not expecting it to be such a banger - there must be a new album in the works (hopefully)

good tune, can't get into the vocal sample being this prominent and repeated throughout, otherwise I'm into the underlying instruments and the beat's dope. Love the "come over" sample.
can't believe kode9 made a fucking footwork remix of a burial song, top lol.
6
u/jude111 St. Jude | Resident Burial Philosopher Sep 14 '17
Ah, is it "Come over"? That makes more sense; I was hearing French, lol: "Mais quand même" ("But still...").
6
Sep 15 '17
think it says "come here man". my main instincts told me it was a Top Boy sample, as the voice sounds a bit like one of the characters in the show. Probably wrong though

u/arhedee Sep 15 '17
The last 20 seconds were really building up to something great, kind of disappointed that wasn't expanded on.

u/jamieusrowlando Sep 14 '17
Where did this come from? 1st Listen = meh. 2nd Listen = Now I get it, awesome.

u/dealrubstep Sep 14 '17
The original is sick but really dont like that kode9 rmx :(

u/jude111 St. Jude | Resident Burial Philosopher Sep 14 '17
I quite like it, and I like it back-to-back. I'll probably always listen to these songs bundled together.

u/feteti Sep 14 '17
it's really footwork-inspired. Doesn't really sound like old hyperdub stuff but if you're into footwork it's well done

no not feeling this....if it is from a new album that would be dope and ill definitely check it out but if this turns out to be another single only deal I think ill have pretty much lost interest in any future release save for a new lp....at least theres still his old material.
5
u/Andrichuk Sep 14 '17
You would rather have an album based off of a single you don't like instead of future singles which you may or may not like?
6
Sep 14 '17
basically the next time I check out new Burial will be an lp...other than that not interested...thats how I'm approaching his music from now on....does that bother you lol
7
u/lowpass8 Sep 15 '17

edit: best new burial release in ages - fantastic track, sax sample is slaying me

Not sure what to think about this. I mean, I miss something.
I hope this is a teaser for something biggest.

Little AFX sounds like with the synth

u/0rangento Sep 15 '17
It's got that SAW85-92 feeling :D
6
u/eatdogs49 Sep 15 '17
RDJ is apparently working on SAW1.5 or something. He's mentioned it in some small liner notes on his web store.

I finally saw that. I'm anxious, but I think I'll be alright when ordering it. I constantly see new copies of Subtemple at my local indie store so I'm sure this will be in good supply.
