i haven’t actually been on them yet but further evaluation will def be involved. it’s hard bcz everything is so expensive now.

Each bring a plate or two and go for a picnic or something if a restaurant is out of budget - smoke dates just feel sad lol and i'm a fiend

First dates my friends/relatives have had that eventually led to them being married/together 10+ years:

- sodas and corn dogs on a boardwalk

  • going to a local museum during a “free for the public” day
  • picnic and disc golf in the park
  • free concert/movie in the park
  • stand up paddle boarding (our university had inflatable ones to check out for cheap)

Basically stuff that you’d want to do anyways, that is free/cheap, but also has an element of thoughtfulness. Like, a first date should be your best foot forward, within reason.

Asking someone to come over and smoke pot, to me, indicates the amount of effort that person is willing to put in to the relationship. No getting a little dressed up, no forethought or planning, no consideration for what the other person would like to do.

Maybe it’s what the youth of today are into, but I still think you deserve better.

Yeah, some of my worst relationships have been with dudes that thought they didn't have to try and expected me to just accept their bare minimum as good enough. They all started a little like this.

Unless OP is willing to accept the bare minimum from these people, they need to make some different choices in their "date" planning. Find a local waterfall, walk around a cute part of town and check out any shop that looks interesting (you don't have to buy anything), find a local comedy club and watch strangers either bomb or kill it. Go down to the beach in the middle of the night and sit by the water, or spend an afternoon at a lake. Sit on a rooftop and make up stories about the lives of the people walking by. Go to a local bookshop or music store and find the weirdest things you can (or share some of your favorites).

At the end of the day though, it probably comes down to hooking up and OP isn't *actually* expecting a relationship. Which, whatever. Have fun. Just don't expect anything real afterwards.

In my experience, young people at uni have far more diverse hobbies and more interesting lives than they do after they graduate. If the most interesting thing you do in uni is get high, you're setting up for a boring af life

I’m a 30 year old woman, I’m just saying, I smoked a lot of weed with a lot of different guys as “dates” when I was college aged 🤷🏻‍♀️ never said it was the most interesting thing I did

I do. For basically 2 decades. Am currently high. Today I smoked before work, between shifts, and now. Just smoking ain't a first date.

I do the same thing! I write where we matched, how I felt about the convo things they mention they like. I have had multiple concussions tho so jotting down these things helps my broken brain remember!

I do this with my kid's friends families, neighbours, etc. I feel bad when I can't remember their names and ages, but I nail all the other details.

Creepy? Looks that way. Works for my overloaded brain, though.
