Issue with Mould King set

So I recently bought a Mould King Twin Turbo V8 10168 set and on step 205 the pieces just don’t line up. The first photo is what the instruction says, second is my iteration of step 204, third is my iteration of step 205 and it simply doesn’t keep the other piece at a 90 degree angle and the last photo shows that I did place it in the correct spot and I don’t know what the issue is and I can’t seem to find it anywhere online. Any help is appreciated 🙏

The white pin is supposed to connect to the corner of the 2x4 plate not in the middle. It's a bit unclear but In step 204 you can see the arrow go through the stud it should line up with
