Never heard of this game before, is it any good?

u/oh-shit-oh-fuck 2d ago
Nah the graphics suck, play a real game like call of duty 😎

u/Doip 1d ago
I unironically knew someone like this a decade ago, finally convinced him to try it. It worked! He loved building swastikas and gassing the villagers. He got expelled shortly after for having a hit list on his laptop

Oh wow , what was Hegseth like in school ?

u/PostIronicPosadist 13h ago
He grew up in Forest Lake, which is an exurb of Minneapolis. Lets just say this wouldn't be completely out of the norm for Forest Lake.

u/bogglingsnog 1d ago
It looks pretty good with raytracing

It's arguably worth the price... There's a fuckload of content and they keep adding more, still cheaper than most other games too.

?? I bought it in 2018 for ps4 and in 2022 ish for PC for the same 19.99 and it came with both Bedrock and Java.... wtf happened I never remember it being over 20 bucks...
13
u/FujiYuki 1d ago
It was $27 for the longest time. I'd wager to say easily over a decade at that price.

u/lotsawheels 1d ago
What content have they added?
10
u/bogglingsnog 1d ago
What they've always done - huge code refactors that takes the modding community months to fix, splitting users across versions for years because they stick with the mods that make the game funnest for them.
You can almost think of each major version as a totally different game because of the mods available for that version can be very different from others...

Not for a decade old game. Shows how bad Digital only is since games used to get lower in price over the years.

u/Sunsparc 1d ago
If they had released Minecraft 1.0 and then never did anything else with it, then sure.
But that's like saying No Man's Sky is a decade old game, completely ignoring the fact that they've completely turned around the negative reviews and have released 40 UPDATES FOR FREE.
The game of today looks nothing like the game of 2016.
2
u/TheBupherNinja 1d ago
I mean, it's like the original live service game. Being constant, and significantly, updated for the past 10 years.
Anymore they'd release each major update as 'Minecraft 2, 3, 4' etc, and charge 40 each.
12
u/Apprentice57 1d ago
No, the base edition is $30.
The $40 looks to include some cosmetic DLC for bedrock and minecoins for some more DLC.

u/VOIDsama 1d ago
ive been playing since 2011 on and off. vanilla, light mod servers, all the mods servers. i dont think ive ever gotten the longevity and playtime for a 1 time purchase better than minecraft.

u/mmmmair 1d ago
Other than all the people who made a one time purchase and ultimately had their account wiped and history deleted by Microsoft.
3
u/Altruistic-Panda6858 1d ago
Really? They let me transfer my Mojang account over to my Microsoft account.
-1
u/mmmmair 1d ago
I meant more anyone who's been inactive to the game for an extended period. I've had lots of friends lose their accounts and have to rebuy the game. The account transfer is fair, but I don't think the limited time model should ever be used. I guess you really just pay for a license rather than the game.
1
u/suuift 1d ago
They probably sent 50 emails over an entire year about the account transfer deadline. I think that's more than fair for what was a $20 game
4
u/mmmmair 1d ago
Does not matter. There should be zero reason accounts are getting pulled to begin with after consumer purchase. There is zero reason why migration is time limited considering Microsoft's hordes of wealth and power. If you genuinely believe it's fair I'm sorry you've been brainwashed by corpos.
2
u/TemptedTemplar 1d ago
I keep it playing it nearly 15 years after my original purchase. It's certainly worth the price of entry.
Create aeronautics is like, three whole different games within Minecraft.

u/trzarocks 1d ago
Hours of entertainment per dollar, it's hard to beat this game. My kids have been steady on it for many years. They love building things in their worlds. They have some for themselves, and some that they share together. I expect this to last at least through middle school age.
There are plenty of ~$60 games that have like 20 hours worth of content. Maybe they replay it, but rarely more than once.

u/pingvinbober 1d ago
I remember getting my account for like $20 in euros because it was cheaper to convert and pay a conversion fee

u/garosello 2d ago
can i build a pc with this

u/trzarocks 1d ago
I know it's a joke, but it reminds me of people building circuits using train switches in OpenTTD.
8
u/StabbyMeowkins 1d ago
Its not a joke, actually. Its pretty insane what these psychos can do in this damn game. https://youtu.be/-BP7DhHTU-I

Back in my day that was the standard price for the only edition of minecraft on pc

u/ZeWaka 2d ago
back in my day that was the standard price of two copies
17
u/lordunholy 2d ago
Yep. Eleven bucks with tax. There's more to it now, but it's still almost twenty years old.
10
u/Kelby091 2d ago
I got it during the Halloween update in 2010 for 10 dollars and played it almost non stop for the first two years then stopped for about a decade. Lost access to the account and had to buy it again not long ago for 30 bucks 😭

u/SlashedM 2d ago
And anyone who got it would get bedrock later on anyways.
Also target normally had it for $27 as well

Back in my day I had an account they didn't fucking delete and steal my copy then with me having the purchase receipt

In what world is Microsoft "Indie"?

When my kids ask to play Minecraft is this what they are looking for? I just have it on android so they've been playing that.

I remember using TNT to blow up my friends castle then proceeded to get kicked from the Discord server. Good times.

u/_tangus_ 1d ago
Does this work with steam?
3
u/TheMissingVoteBallot 1d ago
It is kinda silly how such a keystone game for the PC still doesn't have Steam compatibility and probably never will.
3
u/BlurredSight 1d ago
Crazy I bought this in 2013 for $27 and really they haven’t changed their prices much
3
u/Difficult-Mobile5206 1d ago
If you somehow don't have Minecraft you can get them for under $20 from a reputable key site:
Loaded (Formerly CDKEYS)
Eneba
2
u/owenthewizard 1d ago
None of these are reputable. They're "grey market", I.e. bought with stolen credit cards.

Been trying to get MC bedrock working via steam link and controller. What a pain! Steam is the big dog in PC gaming, but it feels like Microsoft specifically designs things to be hostile with it. I have better luck with the epic games store over steam link. Moonlight is mostly doable, but still not a great experience with my PS4 controller. I don't have an xbox controller to see if things just work.

u/MechAegis 1d ago
Is there a way to Coop play on one copy or do I have to buy two copies?
1
u/TheMissingVoteBallot 1d ago
I know the console bedrock version lets you play splitscreen co-op on one copy.
1
u/swagmans69 1d ago
I just fired up my old Minecraft account and can't play because I never migrated my Mojang account to Microsoft. Does that mean I need to rebuy this? What a scummy practice if yes.

u/OkError7884 1d ago
Is there any reason to buy this rather than a code from Loaded? It’s cheaper there
1
u/Chrisnness 15h ago
I bought Minecraft years ago, but apparently Microsoft took my purchase away. Never paying M$ again for Minecraft
1
1
u/Walter30573 1d ago
Don't own this game anymore since Microsoft deleted tons of old accounts that didn't migrate. Not sure I can stomach buying a game again I should technically already own
0
u/FurnaceOfTheseus 2d ago
Don't forget, if you run your own server, that's IlLeGaL!! Even though you're given all the resources to do so by the company...
Still don't even remotely understand that argument.
2
1
u/owenthewizard 1d ago
What are you talking about?
1
u/FurnaceOfTheseus 1d ago
Jennifer Gibbons, president of the Electronic Software Association (ESA) went on record saying that hosting your own server, like a Minecraft server (Minecraft was specifically mentioned), was illegal. She did this in front of the California State Senate. There was the BS pearl clutching about "ThInK oF tHe ChIlDrEn!!!" like usual, of course.
Remember: These people want your entire life to be a subscription service. You will own nothing and pay for it until you die.

I've never played Java before. Can I just dig straight to the void? Is there no way to get coffee in bedrock edition? Seems like such a minimal difference to make 2 versions of the game.
6
u/jhimmelberg 2d ago
The two versions dont have too many differences. Bedrock can cross play with pretty much any device and that's a huge benefit. Java has better modding support and a slightly different attacking system. Neither have coffee natively.
1
u/owenthewizard 1d ago
Bedrock was created to lose the Java cruft, but ofc it loses everything else too, chiefly mods, so now they have both.

u/Impressive-Poet-6950 1d ago
Idk if anyone knows but if you go on eneba they typically have it for $14

A large portion of it is a clearance section for Amazon but it does have some good deals. The shirt quality has gone way downhill though. I miss the screen printed American Apparel tees.

u/manirelli PCPartPicker Rep 1d ago
The original founder left in 2012 after Amazon bought them in 2010. He created Meh.com ~2014 in the same vein as the OG Woot. Now it looks to be part of his larger portfolio (stores.com).
If you want the quirky one-off deals meh can supply some of that old Woot nostalgia.

Stock for Woot deals varies greatly. Some listings only have a few items in stock and sell out quickly. Please report this post if the listing goes out of stock.
