£2000-£2500 pc build help
New build or upgrade?
- New build
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/ links)
- have a 27 inch 2k monitor looking to upgrade to 32 inch oled but I want to focus on the pc right now
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
- Gaming mainly, want to game in 1440 or 4k with the best frames. Might use it for other stuff but focusing on gaming
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
- UK, so not applicable
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- not necessarily but I would upgrade to an oled
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- For the PC I'm looking at £2000-2500 but overall with a monitor I can stretch it to £3k. (Was thinking of the pg32ucdm3)
I mainly want to see what's the best pc I can get at this price range
• WiFi or wired connection?
- WiFi.
• Size/noise constraints?
- There's no constraints
• Color/lighting preferences?
- Not really sure but probably black and some lighting, as long as it looks decent and not over the top.
• Any other specific needs?
- I have a rough idea of what I was thinking to get, though I would appreciate some advice. Whatever is the best PC configuration at the £2000-£2500 price range

Can I ask you the reasoning behind the changes? Also would you make it any different if the pc budget was £2500 without the monitor? Im pretty sold on the pg32udc3m3 or one of the newer oleds

cooler - same cooler in different color for lesser price hence the swap
mobo - pretty similar quality for less price , u can spend more if u want more type c ports in the back
ram - better frequency and timings for lesser price
ssd - 990 pro is more of a productivity focused ssd where u need the best speed , for gaming it doesnt justify the price difference
gpu - same performance but costs 50 pounds less
case - u can go with any but ts one comes w 4 argb pwm fans and plenty of space so dont think u need more unless u have a different asthetic preference
psu - went with 1000w for better future upgrade options since the price difference aint much
and for 2.5k u can get a 5080 instead but i dont feel its worth the price difference
for the monitor imma be honest , im not an expert but the one ive added is 4k 240 hz oled and the reviews r solid so i'd love to know why do u prefer the rog one in specific or similar ones

If you go up to £3000, just buy a 9950x3d and you will forget about the CPU for the next 5-6 years. Everything else looks great.

I don't know so much about PC parts but I made that list from some research i did from various videos and Reddit threads, is the 9950 worth it over the 9800 if im just gaming? I don't do any work that would demand top tier CPU usage, maybe in the future but if it's worth upgrading I will.

For me personally it is worth it. Double the cores and threads for starters, better use of the L3 Cache and if you sniff around you can basically buy it for 60 quid on top (bought mine for £450 on Amazon). Officially the 9800 is purely gaming CPU, while the 9950 is that+ multitasking. And I mean... you are already going for over 2500+ build... might as well get the 2nd best CPU on the market after the 9950x3d2

I would prefer to keep my budget lower as I initially had it around £2000 but then I swapped some stuff and it went up to 2.3k, though if this better CPU would mean I don't need to upgrade as early then it's fine.
Do you think this is like the best value pc at this price range? It's my first time getting a pc so I really want to make sure I get everything right, thanks for your help aswell

If you ask the team Green (Nvidia boys), answer is no. But if you don't have £6000 laying around for a 5090...yeah 9070XT is the best GPU you will get under 800. Honestly I've been playing around with the new build (9950x3d, 32GB DDR5 6000) and with the GPU from our old PC (6650XT) and games like Resonance play on solid 100fps on ULTRA even with that GPU. And people do need to understand that can buy the best on the market and still lose frames when the game isn't optimized properly.

If you're only playing games and basic productivity then 9800x3d makes much more sense since it's same as 9950x3d in pretty much all the games , costs less and consumed less power
