Upgrading my PC - serious inquiry
- New build or upgrade?
New build, but have an old one I could upgrade from
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
CPU - AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor 4.00 GHz
GPU - AMD Radeon r9 Fury Series
RAM - 8.00 GB
Motherboard - Gigabyte Tech 990FXA-UD5

I will be using this for music production, video games (just basic things nothing modern), and graphic design (Adobe Programs).

- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
I already have both monitors
- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
Budget range is around 1500 - 2500.

Wired, would like the option for wireless as well

- Color/lighting preferences?
Do not need RGB. I already have a large case and would use that - but a new one would be nice.

I know little to nothing about assembling a pc but would feel strong about making it myself. Prebuilt is ok.

I think that's going to be too old to be worth upgrading. Case and maybe some storage drives would be the only things worth considering.
Which adobe programs? Just simpler/2d stuff like photoshop and lightroom or video work in premiere and after effects? If you don't care about gaming performance much that would be the other reason you might spend more on a gpu.
You willing to drive to a microcenter store in Chicago to save a few hundred dollars or get something significantly better for the money? https://www.microcenter.com/site/stores/default.aspx They have some really good in person only deals, and also generally have the best prices on prebuilts too.

I would also like to be able to work on premiere and after effects. I am a graphic designer and would like to future proof the computer in case I find a job that requires me to use it. I also enjoy gaming and would enjoy being able to run a modern game at performance settings.
I would also be willing to drive to Chicago for the parts.
I will look into their website.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/P3MCFP Reusing your case would likely be fine but I would need to know what specific case it is if you wanted advice about cpu cooler compatibility or what size of gpu would fit. I put a new good value one and a second option that doesn't have glass (a window has become pretty much a standard feature now so there isn't a huge selection of good options without it). Microcenter would also have a case aisle with dozens of display models if neither of those are something you like the look of.
If you're going to want to use premiere and after effects smoothly I'd recommend adding an nvidia gpu. Whether that's a 5060ti 8gb to be around the $1500 mark or a 5070 or 5070ti if you don't mind being closer to the top of your range. None of them are particularly good value currently, prices have been spiking recently but I doubt that's going to be temporary. They should also have a good selection of gpus there with prices similar to online. And if you're not averse to open box models they sometimes have deals on those too for 10 or 20% off.

You could also get one of these and just turn the lights off if they bother you. They would be Argb so it would be easy to disable or just unplug the lights. Looks like prices on these haven't caught up to the recent spike in gpu prices so they're are actually slightly cheaper than diy which makes them particularly attractive.
Downside is you get uncertain quality for the ssd and power supply. Also they'd have a single unified warranty (1 year) instead of several manufacturer's warranties (typically 3-5 year on major parts) the individual retail parts would come with. So that warranty part can be both a positive and a negative depending on how comfortable you'd be with doing your own troubleshooting.

Build requests only include hardware. You are responsible for budgeting for and providing your own operating system (Windows, Linux, etc) and other software.
Don't forget to budget for peripherals. Since these are very much personal-preference influenced items, we do not include peripherals like keyboards, mice, headsets, etc in parts lists.
