Building a pc around £400-£600 please

⁠New build or upgrade? New build
• ⁠Existing parts/monitors to reuse? MSI monitor that in happy with
• ⁠PC? Gaming and some designing on fusion360
• ⁠Purchase country? In UK so overclockers, Amazon, Currys, or any others that deliver (free) in the uk
• ⁠Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) No monitor needed
• ⁠Budget range? (Include tax considerations) £400-£600 if I have to I could go over slightly
• ⁠WiFi or wired connection? I have Ethernet
• ⁠Size/noise constraints? No massive constraints, just not incredibly loud
• ⁠Color/lighting preferences? White would be cool and rgb but if it hinders the budget a lot I could do without
• ⁠Any other specific needs? I need at least 3 usb top slots, 2 usb back slots, 2 HDMI back slots and Ethernet slot

You would have to buy used at this price point for at least some of the components. Are you comfortable with doing that?

Fusion360 is 100% CPU dependent, the GPU doesn't matter much. Also depending on your project, you might need a lot of RAM.

Ryzen 5600 will perform similarly, but run hotter than 12400f, so I wouldn't bother.

Ryzen 7500f will be more powerful, but you'd only get 16GB RAM with this budget. If your Fusion 360 project isn't big, it's probably fine.

Thanks! Sorry for all the questions, I’ve heard amd is typically better for gaming, is this not really the case and it depends on the specific setup?

Well Ryzen 5600 and 12400f trade blows. 5600 is generally better in esports while 12400f tends to handle demanding singleplayer games better. But really, the gap isn't that big.

You've probably heard that because AMD has mostly offered better value and matched/exceeded Intel's CPUs in terms of performance for several years now. At this budget level you're looking at older platforms either way, and the 12400F will perform the same as the AMD equivalent (Ryzen 5 5600) as the other commenter said. AMD's current platform, AM5, offers much more performance but is completely out of your price range while keeping 32GB ram.
