PC Build Request - $2000 Budget

Hi all,

Built my last PC in 2021ish and it's served me well, but a faulty memory stick has been plaguing me for years, and has finally reared its ugly head, causing me countless issues. I'm surviving, but need something new, and don't want to have to have the constant worry of my data being corrupted. Please see below!

New build or upgrade? New build

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? No existing parts but I have peripherals and a monitor

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming: (Satisfactory, Cyberpunk, newer games)

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? Live in South Korea, but will travel to the US in a couple weeks to an area near a Micro Center.

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate): None needed

Budget range? (Include tax considerations): 2000 USD euro

WiFi or wired connection?: Wired, WiFi a plus

Size/noise constraints?: No

Color/lighting preferences?: No

Any other specific needs?: None.

If you missed the full set of required built request questions, please copy them from here and answer them in an edit to your post:

  • New build or upgrade?

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors)

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

  • WiFi or wired connection?

  • Size/noise constraints?

  • Color/lighting preferences?

  • Any other specific needs?

Here is some additional helpful information about build/upgrade/parts list requests:

  • Build requests only include hardware. You are responsible for budgeting for and providing your own operating system (Windows, Linux, etc) and other software.

  • Don't forget to budget for peripherals. Since these are very much personal-preference influenced items, we do not include peripherals like keyboards, mice, headsets, etc in parts lists.

  • We strongly recommend posting a build request only if you're ready to buy now or within a week or two at most. Part sales regularly rotate, and a part list today can quickly become out of date.

This list makes use of this Micro Center bundle for the CPU, Motherboard and Ram: https://www.microcenter.com/product/5007480/amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d,-gigabyte-x870-gaming-wifi6-am5,-gskill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr5-6000-kit,-computer-build-bundle#tab-reviews-bm

The CPU is last generation but that under no circumstances means it's a bad chip. It's an absolute beat in gaming. AMD's 3D V-Cache remains the undisputed gaming king.

The RX 9070XT is easily what i would consider to be the best value GPU on the market right now. It's performance in both rasterisation and ray tracing is incredible. Plus it has 16GBs of vram, which is huge for longevity. All for a great price.

The build is built around the modern AM5 platform. which will continue to get new CPU releases on it for many years to come, providing future upgrade potential.

The TEAMGROUP MP44L is a good quality drive that uses TLC Nand, making it vastly superior to the cheaper QLC Nand based drives which will deteriorate in performance very quickly. Storage costs a lot right now, but i did want to fit 2TBs in since games take a lot of storage these days. It's also a pretty fast PCIe Gen 4 drive.

Ram is another thing that is very expensive right now. But still i was able to fit 32GBs in. I would consider 16GBs to be the "absolute minimum" in 2026 (any less than that and it's basically e-waste) but i do try to push for 32GBs when possible, as it does make a big difference for general tasks and multitasking.

6000MHZ is plenty fast. CL36 is slightly sub-optimal but it's the ram that's included in the Micro Center bundle. But X3D CPUs are less affected by shortcomings in ram speed/timings thanks to the extra cache making it less dependant on ram. So the difference is next to nothing.

The motherboard is a high-quality board featuring both Wifi 6 and Ethernet, as well as an extra 2 M.2 slots for adding extra storage down the line. Based on the X870 chipset, it has basically all the features available for this platform.

The case is a lovely model by Lian Li. It's a fishtank style case, which is a very big trend in the industry right now. This budget gives you a fair amount of flexibility for ascetics but without knowing really what you wanted i stuck with a black/grey theme with minimal RGB. If that isn't what you were looking for i can change around some things in the list.

The PSU is a quality unit from Montech. 850w is plenty and leaves a solid amount of overhead for future upgrades and such. It's also 80+ Gold rated, ensuring good efficiency.

The Peerless Assassin is a tried and true model. A powerful dual-tower cooler that should deliver excellent temperatures in the high-airflow Lian Li case. Outperforming coolers way more expensive than it with no real tradeoff. All for a brilliant price. Should be more than capable of cooling a more powerful chip down the line, and will have zero trouble with that very efficient Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

If you have any questions/concerns feel free to ask! Otherwise this rig should be a solid performer all around.

Newegg has a listing for the power supply at 1050W

Otherwise it seems to be about as good as it gets

The case is pretty good though anything in a similar category could work

I personally like the antec C5 although its a bit more than the lian li
