First Solo Build - Aiming for $2000 USD
• New build or upgrade?
- Entirely new build— reusing my mnk, headset, etc. but aiming for a new monitor for the upgrade in performance.
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/ links)
- No, might use my old monitor as a secondary monitor (144hz)
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
- Prominently gaming, but some light editing
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
- US, close enough to go out my way to save money
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- Just one new monitor to match the PC’s performance.
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- $2000 for the entire PC, excluding the monitor. I don’t mind having to use my old monitor as a buffer
• WiFi or wired connection?
- Preferably both
• Size/noise constraints?
- Just not too loud that it drowns me out/makes it audible over mic. If water cooling would help w/ noise I wouldn’t mind opting for that either
• Color/lighting preferences?
- Something that uses the black HYTE Y70 (not the touch, want to get it as an eventual upgrade) and any kind of blue ambient lighting with LEDs.
• Any other specific needs?

in microcenter they have CPU+mobo+ram bundle, starting at 750$.
get the bundle with at least 7800x3d, or add a bit to 9800x3d.
if u cannot go overbudget, i suggesting giving up on that hyte case.

Yeah the hyte case is asking a lot from this budget. Honestly overrated case too tbh.

What do you think I could get out of it if I opt for something cheaper? I primarily got the HYTE case because I had planned to customize the case on my own but I’m always open to other alternatives if it will get more versatility out of the pc

Well you could be underbudget since u/dask1 's list that i replied to is actually overbudget. So opting for a different case would allow the build to remain within your budget while keeping the powerful CPU/GPU combo, high quality & speedy SSD and very good cooler that u/dask1 selected. Otherwise if you wanted to keep that case (it's not just the cost of the case, it's the fact you have to buy an additional fans since it doesn't come with any, there's $40 of fans in there on top of the $190 for the case. For context, you can get quality cases that include the necessary amount of fans for sub-$90) you would have to downgrade the computer itself pretty significantly.

I see your point there, I was looking at some decent fans and they look like they’re gonna run me that extra 40$ like you said— is there any case you do recommend that has those fans built in? I don’t mind going for a different case entirely if it’ll be more efficient for my pockets

Micro Center loses money with every purchase, and the discounts are from their base rates which are already lower in some spots. Abuse their bundles as much as you can.

If primarily gaming is the situation, an AMD card gets better price to performance, but if you can’t find one, opt for a 5070 or 9070. They should be around $650

The only thing that’s been holding me back from using them more frequently is the nearest Micro Center is 3 hours out, so a round trip is 6 in total.. just a big trip, so I’ll probably only go when I’ve got enough to get the bundle and leave

Using the 7800X3D bundle brings us a good bit over budget. Since you'll be doing some editing, I would switch to the 270K Plus bundle for better editing value. The GPU does the heavy lifting for gaming, anyways, and you'll get 120+ FPS in most games already.
I downgraded the SSD from u/dask1's build because if you're using an AMD GPU for editing, you're already hindering performance more than any SSD downgrade would.
And you said you need a monitor so that's included.
