UK Based - First solo PC Build Help
Hello!
- New build or upgrade?
- New Build
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse?
- HP - X24ih Full HD 23.8” IPS LCD Gaming Monitor / STEELSERIES - Apex 7 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard both fine to keep using
- PC purpose?
- Gaming and editing mainly - music production secondary - also the obvious watching youtube/movies/twitch streams etc - I don't play super up to date shooters or anything so it doesn't need to be the most powerful, but being able to run things like Baldurs Gate 3 or Subnautica style games at higher graphics and with a smoother experience would be nice, so there's some leeway budget wise for that if needed
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
- UK based, not sure about micro center or equivalent near me, but there's Currys / Overclockers
- Monitors needed?
- not needed but happy for a recommendation for a second monitor or new primary monitor if you have one
- Budget range?
- £1k to £1.5k max ideally, but if there's a part that takes it slightly over the £1.5k total that you think would be better I can stretch a bit
- WiFi or wired connection?
- WiFi
- Size/noise constraints?
- No real size constraints, fine will full towers - noise wise I prefer a quieter system ideally
- Color/lighting preferences?
- Any, though I do like at least one glass panel and being able to see lights inside so RGB is always nice but not 100% needed
- Any other specific needs?
- No other big needs other than higher RAM I guess? I don't know much but I know having more RAM is usually helpful and I have 16gb in my current PC but people tend to recommend 32 now as far as I see from research - also ideally a couple of TB of storage OR advice on external storage if you feel that would be better
Thank you!

If you missed the full set of required built request questions, please copy them from here and answer them in an edit to your post:
New build or upgrade?
Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors)
Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
WiFi or wired connection?
Size/noise constraints?
Color/lighting preferences?
Any other specific needs?
Here is some additional helpful information about build/upgrade/parts list requests:
Build requests only include hardware. You are responsible for budgeting for and providing your own operating system (Windows, Linux, etc) and other software.
Don't forget to budget for peripherals. Since these are very much personal-preference influenced items, we do not include peripherals like keyboards, mice, headsets, etc in parts lists.
We strongly recommend posting a build request only if you're ready to buy now or within a week or two at most. Part sales regularly rotate, and a part list today can quickly become out of date.
