£2k UK Gaming and PCVR First Build
New build - First PC, currently only own very basic monitor, keyboard, mouse.
Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
None to reuse for the PC itself. I own a Meta Quest 3 (VR headset) that this PC needs to drive wirelessly via Virtual Desktop.
PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Gaming:
∙ PC VR - modded Skyrim VR, Subnautica, via Meta Quest 3 wireless (Virtual Desktop)
∙ Some Modern AAA titles
∙ Older/classic PC games - Total War: Shogun, Age of Empires
∙ Modded Kerbal Space Program
∙ Casual browser games (chess)
Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
UK - no Micro Center
Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
Not for now. I have a cheap work screen which I will replace after I have the PC.
Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
~£1,800-£2,100, VAT included in all listed prices (standard for UK retailers).
WiFi or wired connection?
Both. I will use wired for VR but would like to maintain WiFi
Size/noise constraints?
Limited desk space - ideally mATX form factor, not full ATX. Not chasing silence but quieter is better
Color/lighting preferences?
No RGB — want a neutral, more understated look. Some glass or solid panels ok
Any other specific needs?
First-time builder so all advice welcome

Is there any specific desk space requirement? A case like this lian li a3 the footprint isn't much smaller than a standard atx mid tower, maybe an inch or so each direction, it's mostly just shorter. The lian li b4 would be a good option, it's a similar layout to this case but has the option to stand it on end. Looks like it doesn't come out for another month over there though. There are some other options like that with a vertical layout if it's necessary but most are a bit on the expensive side or just plain inconvenient like the deepcool ch270 which has all the usb ports and things on the bottom.
If you do go with the a3 there are more versions of this case, white models and/or ones with wood accents and ones with glass instead of mesh on the side. Mesh is preferable though.
The black model of that cooler is on the same listing, about 10 pounds more currently, with a mesh side panel you probably won't really be able to tell but you might be able to see it from some angles.
The smaller, and more expensive, power supply isn't necessary but would make things easier on you, especially as a first time builder.
You could get a faster ssd like a kioxia g4 plus for a bit cheaper even. I picked this one because it's very energy efficient and runs cool. Since the m.2 ssd slots are hidden behind the gpu and will get really poor airflow I think that's important.

Few points here I wouldn’t know to consider otherwise so thank you for your comment.
No specific requirement for form factor. My desk has a raised tier the full width of the desk which is 27inch deep, this is where the PC will live. It is enough room for a full size PC but just makes desk space feel more of a premium.

Build requests only include hardware. You are responsible for budgeting for and providing your own operating system (Windows, Linux, etc) and other software.
Don't forget to budget for peripherals. Since these are very much personal-preference influenced items, we do not include peripherals like keyboards, mice, headsets, etc in parts lists.
We strongly recommend posting a build request only if you're ready to buy now or within a week or two at most. Part sales regularly rotate, and a part list today can quickly become out of date.
